This week has me traveling to Des Moines, I am open on Friday night for some race. Are there any sprint car shows within a few hours of there on Friday night? If not, any other good short track options?
Thanks!

The Iowa State Fairgrounds Speedway in SE Des Moines runs their weekly show on Friday nights, but it's IMCA stock cars/trucks/mortifieds/spec late models so I wouldn't consider it a good option to someone looking for a sprint car show....just a nearby option for a dirt junkie needing to get a fix.

Sprint Car shows,I think the Us 36 Speedway in Osborn Mo. or ASCS at Cameron Mo. would be the only close sprint car shows on Friday night 2- 2 1/2 hours away, The Iowa State Fairgrounds Speedway in Des moines would be closest, another option would be Marshalltown Speedway most same classes as Fairgrounds less Late models & trucks

Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa races every Friday night ! this 3/8 mile track puts on some great wingless sprint car action and there is drama and slide jobs around every turn! If you heard what happened last week you would be very interested to see how the story plays out this week!
Classes running: HRA Sportsman, USRA Hobby Stock, USRA B-Mod, USRA Stock Car, and Heartland Racing Association Wingless Sprint Cars!
The show normally moves on pretty well and gets over between 10 and 10:45. It is a little over a 4 and a half hour drive from Des Moines but it may be worth it! I also believe Adults are $9 to get in!
HRA Wingless Sprint Cars!

I am driving from Knoxville down to Cameron on Friday. Should be a good show. Thursday going to Tipton, IA for Sprint Invaders and tonight to Donnellson,IA for the MOWA show. Yes, life is good.
My wife told me if I went to one more Sprint Car race
she would leave me.................I'm sure gonna miss
that ol' gal.

Yo darbo42, Don't know who you will be rooting for Friday night, but PLEASE put a shout out to my good buddy Jonathan Cornell in the 28. He had some s---house luck last time up there for the National show , Coming to the green, some dummy drove underneath the row in front of him and put the 28 in the wall without taking the green. I won't mention any names cause as the saying goes "No crybabies allowed"

US 36 Raceway in Cameron/Osborn (the name of the town it is located in changes depending on who you are talking to) is definitely your best bet. There will be at least 20 360s and US 36 Raceway is a high-banked fast track, that always puts on an enjoyable show (especially when the leaders reach lap traffic). Plus it's easy to get to from Des Moines, just get on I-35, head directly south to Cameron and then drive west a few miles on US 36!

You better drive west...this track is usually really entertaining! Enjoy!

Better head west on US-36 at Cameron if you want to find the track...

D'oh! I'm not sure how I managed to make that mistake with the directions I had west in my head, but I typed out east for some reason.. Thank you for the correction!
