California Sprint Car & Midget Power Poll for July 10, 2012

ELK GROVE, CALIFORNIA (July 10, 2012) -Mike Spencer continued his reign atop the California Sprint & Midget Power Poll for the second consecutive time, thanks in large part of a big win on the 4th of July at Perris Auto Speedway ahead of Nic Faas. Wingless drivers are showing their muscle in the Poll but it was a winged win for Bud Kaeding at Chico on the 4th that propelled him back to second in the standings, while Colby Wiesz cracks the top-ten for the first time after topping a 44 car field at Placerville on the 4th.

Stephen Allard has moved forward five positions in the Power Poll to third overall after winning the Civil War Sprints feature at Petaulma Speedway on Saturday. One member of our panel described Kyle Hirst at the hottest driver in California after numerous second place finishes over the last few weeks, and he joins the poll for the first time in ninth.

Tim Kaeding fell from the top-ten while racing throughout the Midwest with the World of Outlaws and scoring a World of Outlaws victory. His father Brent scored a King of the West win at Placerville and a USAC win at Watsonville to be ranked eighth overall.

About the CA Sprint Car & Midget Power Poll:

Eligible drivers come from any injected winged or non-wing Sprint Car division in the state along with full Midgets as well.

The poll includes top-ten lists from various media members including site editor Steven Blakesley, photographer Chris Cleveland, announcers Troy Henning, Ron Lingron, and Bill Sullivan, King of the West PR guru Gary Thomas, and driver PR specialist PJ Petersen. A statistical analysis of California racing stats by Jeff Bye, Jr. is combined with the media poll to create a current picture of the top-10 drivers in the state.

Power polls will be released every first and third Tuesday throughout the racing season until the first week of December, when StevenBlakesley.com will crown a California Sprint & Midget Power Poll" champion for the season.
