CHRIS HOLT & SCOTT DALOISIO NAMED GRAND MARSHALS OF 17TH ANNUAL BUDWEISER OVAL NATIONALS!
(Perris, CA, July 10, 2012) Two of the longtime voices of Perris Auto Speedway, Chris Holt and Scott Daloisio, have been named Grand Marshals for the 17th Annual Budweiser Oval Nationals on November 3rd and 4th. The race will feature two nights of full point paying races for the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series and the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars. The PAS Senior Sprints and the California Lightning Sprint Cars will be in action as well.
"When my wife Kim and I were discussing it, we thought about a lot of people, but nobody deserved it more than Chris and Scott," Perris promoter Don Kazarian said. "This is our 17th season and both of them have been here since day one. They both started out with us as infield announcers when the track opened in 1996 and we are happy that they are still here. Chris is still on the infield microphone and Scott moved upstairs to call the action 14 seasons ago."
In addition to their work at The PAS, each has been working in and around
California racing for over 30 years. Holt, who has a voice that is well known to race fans at tracks from one end of California to the other, got his start at Ascot. Daloisio began his career in the racing industry as a photo journalist soon after moving to California from Michigan in the 1970's and he has been announcing races since 1988.
"It is not just their work at The PAS or on the microphone," Kazarian said. "They have been working at various tracks and in different forms of racing for years. They both have a true love for the sport. Their experience and knowledge is extremely valuable. In addition to being on the microphone, Chris helps with production of our program and Scott handles our P.R.. No matter what we have ever asked for, neither them has ever told us, "no," or "we cannot do that."
When Kazarian made the announcement at the Salute to Indy race on Memorial Day weekend, Holt was shocked at first. "Twist my arm," the longtime Torrance resident laughed when Kazarian asked him in front of the holiday crowd. "Yes, it will be a tremendous honor to be a grand marshal
for the Oval Nationals."
Daloisio, who resides in Chino, echoed Holt's sentiments about the honor. "Being a grand marshal at the Oval Nationals has a very special meaning as it is a special race that we have both been around for a very long time," he said. "And, it makes it even better getting to be honored with Chris as he is a great friend and we have been partners for so long."
Holt has worked at all 16 of the previous Budweiser Oval Nationals. Daloisio missed the first one in 1996 due to another USAC assignment, but has been at all of the past 15 since.
