So...
Perris is running August 18th.
USAC was concerned about car count when VVille was going to run four days before Perris, but there is no concern that having the race on the 18th will effect the car count for VVille?
Dont get me wrong, I will be at both races, but this seems like some dubious logic going on here. It is real hard for me to believe that USAC were really concerned about car count at all with this sort of scheduling apparently being "better"
Glad the race is on. Hope to see a lot of cars and fans at both shows.

With due respect to all parties-why a Sunday? It makes it tough for anyone who works (especially if you don't live in the Victorville area) to make the show. Victorville has always struggled for a crowd and this won't help. Not being negative, I always support any sprint car show I can get to, but Sunday doesn't work for a lot of fans and we all want Victorville to succeed. That being said I wish the new team all the luck in the world.

Easy guys. You have to remember that the schedule had already been finalized for several months before Scotty proposed a race at Victorville. I remember all of the praise being spread around about how this new schedule didn't have conflicts. You can't have it both ways. In days of yore it was not uncommon on three day weekends to race at Ascot on Saturday then haul over to Manzi to race on Sunday. Unfortunately Calistoga is already scheduled for the last suitable three day weekend of the year. Their was a time when about once a month the teams would race at Ascot on Saturday and then Speedway 117 down in San Diego on Sunday. Look into the trailers of some of the teams now. They are racing what they have. If something breaks due to a crash or fatigue, they are done. They have not brought spare parts because they don't have any.

Or maybe USAC is hoping that with a nice little freeway series, cars from Norcal or Arizona will be enticed to make the trip since you get 2 races for the trip instead of one. If someone was to help out and sponsor a bonus for the top finishing 360 both nights, you could easily have two well supported shows. I'm sure Scott will do all he can to make sure the show is over early, and everyone leaves happy, ready to come back for more.

I hear what you fellas are saying...
I suspect this date will work just as well as the previous one would have and I am excited to attend both shows.
Personally I just found it a bit ironic that the first race is pulled citing it is too close to another scheduled race only to have the rescheduled race the day after a scheduled race.
I am sure the promoters involved had very little recourse on either end of this deal, so absolutely no fault is attributed to them on my part. I just found it interesting enough to comment on.
Two races and high desert birding sounds like a fun filled weekend to me.

Thanks. I'm there.

Hello,
My name is Mike
Gibson Promoter of VV 2005-2010 most famously known as the guy that FAILED
which is more than fair, I did fail. But before the economy and my blind love
for racing got the best of me I’m the one that put Sprint car racing on the
National map here in the High Desert. It was my decisions, me and my families sacrifices
along with people like John Aden, Cary Fass, Steve Wilson, Jack Gardner, Bill
Perkins, and many other volunteers that provided fans with some of the greatest
Sprint car racing in So. California. Might I add without the help of USAC.
Even with all my negative
baggage in 2011 Steve Q was smart enough to realize I would be an asset to his
rein. Once again I think I can say and Steve would agree I was a big part of
the success of the first ever sanctioned USAC race here in Victorville. I’m even
going to go out on a limb here and say if somehow Steve Q, John Aden, and I
could have come to an agreement Steve Q would still be the promoter here in
Victorville.
The reason I felt
the need to post exactly who I am is I’m about to give my opinion on this race
date in question and I’m hoping my history will help validate my opinion. First
and foremost I am not trying to disrespect anyone, well maybe USAC a little.
Nothing would please me more than to see great Sprint Car racing back here in
the desert again regardless of who is promoting it. I don’t know Scott we have
never spoken but I’m sure he’s a great guy as we both share the love of racing
but with all due respect I think I have a little more knowledge than he when it
comes to hosting a race here in Victorville. Unless Scott has secured outside
funding and or USAC has offered Scott an half off deal (not likely) someone is
going to lose BIG on this show.
I have been a part
of this track since 1996 and no one has advertised this track more than Steve Q
.Steve has a relationship with our local radio that other promoters dream of
and pounded the market prior to his USAC event on both radio and TV and still
only yielded just under 1200 people and the majority of them didn’t live in our
media market .I’ll be nice and say at least 75 percent of the crowd came from
down the hill. With all that effort and the discounted price from USAC Steve
just broke even and vowed never to do it again which he didn’t. Had Steve of
paid the going USAC rate at the time he would have stood to lose 5000.00
dollars or better and that’s without the Midgets Sanction fee. Also I can tell
u both Faas/Gardner shows were successful in many ways but both were financial failures.
Now I have just referenced
3 shows, one with USAC two without USAC all promoted in great fashion all were
ran on a Saturday night with no other dates Pre or Post show within a week and one
just made it the other two failed financially speaking. I’m pretty certain USAC
is aware of all the facts I have presented and yet they give this gentleman a Sunday
night date the very next day after a Perris race really?? WOW. Once again I’ll
say I don’t think this date is any fault of Scotts as I’m sure he isn’t aware
of the market he’s about to enter. USAC on the other hand has once again proved
just what their main concern is, IS THE CHECK GOOD !
I’m sure some of
you USAC lovers will think I’m some kind of ass and that’s fine but if that’s the
case please explain to me why. Why is it ok to run a race one day after an
event but not ok to run an event four days before an event? I’m only
speculating but I’m pretty sure Perris showed great concern over the June 30th
date rightfully so and that’s why it was cancelled. If anyone is concerned as I
am about the success of Victorville please try to understand this show is
destined to fail and needs to be rescheduled.
Mike Gibson .

I don't understand the comment "we keep supporting a track and series that gives very little back to the fans". I just attended a fantastic show last night where Donnie and his crew sweated every detail for the most professional and entertaining five hours I enjoyed since Tulare (Faria Memorial)! PERFECT to the last lap where Ridiculously Fast almost stole it from Sure Thing. Not only did he deliver to the fans, he raised money for cancer research, held a dance contest for kids and blew up enough fireworks to entertain parked cars for miles around! I dig that you "dig" the PAS. But your comment about a track "that gives very little back to the fans" is extremely rude after their stellar efforts. Not getting your two day show? What about the Nationals? While I've got the soapbox, a shout out to Michnowicz and Davis and Spencer and especially all the car owners that write the big checks on Monday morning. Ford, Kittle, Sertich, Chaffin, Alexander, Perkins, Roa, Priestly, Wilson, the list goes on and on..and how about Jory, God Bless ya Jack! What the hell did anyone ever do to deserve all of this?

Why would you want to schedule a marquee series without it's marquee driver's ? As far as the "Freeway series" being a 2 day weekend the heavier factor in weighing car count at a track is there is a Cen. Ca. 2 day race the weekend before making it back to back 2 day race's in 9 day's.

How about this?
Let the racers show up and race.
Let the fans show up and enjoy a great show.
Let Scotty worry about the business end of it.
Take all the energy spent being arm chair lawyers and promote open wheel racing to someone new.
Just my 2 cents...
