Kudos to the Lakeside and WoO staff for a decent track considering the weather we've had the last week, and also for moving the program along to get it in before the rain hit. It wasn't the best track I've ever seen, but under the conditions, quite possibly, was the best that could be obtained. In an earlier post I told how I had shunned the WoO at Lakeside for many years because of the lousy track last time I did go. I would say they redeemed themselves well tonight. The middle did take rubber halfway through the A, but was still racy. Congrats Sammy on the win and the points lead.

Man what a night, only 21 cars but one hell of a race. The track held up good and didn't get extremely dry. Passing during the whole feature. Bad luck struck the KING once again. Well worth the trip.

Curt, how bad did it hurt with my boy Sammy winning, lol.......

Wish I could have been there last night and I could have sat with two of my all-time favorite peeps from my sprint car years, Curt and MSF aka Dave Darby, I'm envious today....

Wish you could have been there, too Mike. Also, wish I would have run into you Curt. I haven't had the chance to visit with either of you for a long time. Too long. Mike, maybe we could someday get Curt inbetween us and convert him into a Sammy fan, you think? Lol. Curt, I'd like to sit down with you for an extended visit sometime and listen to some of your racing stories from what I consider the "good ol' days" of racing.

We were enjoying the hospitality of the Seeburg Mufflers Suite and were entertained by a group next to us when Sammy made that "pass" on the restart and the gasps of disbelief implied that they were not regular fans of this group of drivers that is so well known for it's slide jobs and exciting style of getting around a racetrack.

One veteran fan in our group proclaimed it the BEST OUTLAW RACE HE HAD SEEN IN A LONG TIME ! We hated to see Steve Kinser sidelined as he has shown himself to be one of the most competitive drivers when WOO visits this venue.

We were proud of the Lakeside management and the fine work by the WOO staff when the report came halfway through the night that a monstrous storm was headed our way because they seized the day and got the almost SRO crowd out before it hit.

Those who missed this one missed a winner ! Mark it down for next year and we will see you there.

I missed this year but was at the show in '10 & '11. Lakeside puts on a great show and treats it's fans very well. Fast and Racy track. Good job!

Miss you also Bud and Keet, the friendliest couple in sprint car racing. It used to be fun setting up at Lakeside next to that character (son) of yours and his 'refreshment' booth, lol. Hope things are fine for you special folks....
