LUCAS OIL USAC/CRA STARS DRAG RACE FRIDAY AND GO DIRT TRACKIN' ON TATTOO NIGHT SATURDAY AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY!

(JUNE 19, 2007, PERRIS, CA) This weekend will be a big racing weekend for Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car stars "Showtime Danny" Sheridan and "Super Rickie" Gaunt on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds. On Friday, they will be in action on the Street Legal Drag Strip at The PAS. On Tattoo Night on Saturday, they will battle on their familiar stomping grounds, the famous Perris Auto Speedway half-mile clay oval. Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply will present Saturday's show. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM both nights with racing at 6:00 PM on Friday and 7:00 PM on Saturday.

Saturday's presentation will be the 4th Annual Tattoo Night at The PAS. What is it and who can qualify you ask? Anyone with a tattoo that is visible to the public can show it at the ticket window and get in for just $5.00. "Multiple tattoos, complete sleeves or body tattoos count as one," laughed promoter Don Kazarian. "And, it has to be one that can be shown in public. We are not going to send an employee into a private room to check out a tattoo inked on in a private place."

In addition to "Tattoo Night," all kid's 12 and under will be admitted free when an adult accompanies them on Saturday as part of "Kid's Month at The PAS."

Saturday's race will be taped for the Versus Network's "Lucas Oil Motorsports Hour." Versus is available to more than 72,000,000 homes nationwide and presents the series, its drivers, tracks and sponsors with national exposure.

Back to the racing, Gaunt, who resides in Torrance, California, and Sheridan, who lives in Santa Maria, California, may be joined on the drag strip by two other top stars from the Lucas Oil Series on Friday night. Norco, California's Tony Jones, the series point leader, and his closest pursuer, Mike Spencer of Temecula, California, hope to get away from work early enough for the straight line challenge. If Jones and Spencer make it, that would put all of the top four drivers in the CRA series on the drag strip.

Spencer, who was one of the pre-season favorites to win the 2007 Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car championship, scored his second main event win of the season last Saturday night at Santa Maria Speedway. Despite the win, he still trails the effervescent Jones by 121 points. Gaunt, who was fast qualifier for the second week in a row at Santa Maria, took third in the main event and also took over third in the standings from Sheridan.

2007 is shaping up be the most competitive in the tracks 12 seasons of sprint car action. Ventura, California's Cory Kruseman scored his series leading third win at The PAS two weeks ago. In doing so, he became the ninth different winner in nine races at The PAS in 2007. Others who have won at The PAS this year are Darren Hagen (Riverside, California), Garrett Hansen (Manhattan Beach, California), R.J. Johnson (Phoenix, Arizona), Scotty Weir (Marion, Indiana), "The Bullet" Blake Miller (Yorba Linda, California), Jones, Sheridan and Spencer.

Saturday's tattoo festooned crowd will be treated to a full night of racing action including qualifying, four 10-lap heat races, a 12 lap B main and a 30 lap A main event that is sure to see drivers and cars tattooing each other on the brightly lit clay oval.

Anyone wishing more information can contact Perris Auto Speedway at (951) 940-0134.

Perris Auto Speedway is located on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds (home of the Southern California Fair), approximately one hour east of Los Angeles and one hour North of San Diego. To get to the track, take the 215 freeway, exit at the Ramona Expressway and go two miles east to the fairgrounds.

Video and DVD productions for all Lucas Oil USAC/CRA at races Perris Auto Speedway are available from North Hollywood, California's Raceway Video. For more information on these shows call Jeff Kristensen at (818) 618-9764 or visit the website at www.racewayvideo.com

ROUND EIGHT FOR SCRA SPRINT CARS
By Dan Fleisher

SCRA’s 360 wingless Sprint cars will open round eight of the 2007 season when they appear at Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA this Saturday night. Of the previous seven events, only three drivers have visited the winner’s circle, Ryan Kaplan (2), Davey Pombo (3) and Peter Murphy (2). The burning question of the week is, “Will there be a fourth driver to capture the 30-lap feature”?

Pombo and Murphy will attempt to thwart everyone else from accomplishing the feat but their task will be tough against stalwart veterans Kiwi Alexander, Jonathan Logan, Rusty Carlile, Jeff Gardner, Richard Harvey, and the up-and-coming band of teenagers John Niggli, Justyne Hamblin and Michael Faccinto, who finished a strong third when SCRA last appeared at Kings on June 2nd. Others expected to be on-hand include Kevin Barnes, Andy Ferris, Matt Day, Brian Schuler, Adam Frith-Smith, John Iturriria and Jace VanderWeerd.

Pombo currently leads the point standings (514) over Murphy (492) while Carlile trails with (404). A total of 80 points are available to any driver who records fast qualifying time, and wins both his/her heat and the feature.

The club’s next appearance will be on July 7, once again at Kings.

PRESS RELEASE, HOOSIER RACING TIRES CIVIL WAR SERIES
FROM THE OFFICE OF JOHN PADJEN MOTORPORTS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, MONDAY, JUNE 18 , 2007

Civil War Series heads back home to Placerville Speedway this Saturday
Defending champion Forsberg leads series but continues to sing the bridesmaid blues
By Bill Sullivan - John Padjen Motorsports

PLACERVILLE, CA – After a memorable event in the California wine country last Saturday night, the Hoosier Racing Tires Civil War Sprint Car Series heads back to its home base this Saturday night on the high banks of Placerville Speedway. Saturday’s event will mark the third appearance of the season for the traveling campaign for 360 cubic inch powered sprint cars and is round six of the 15 race series that competes at five different California tracks.

Entering Saturday’s event, defending champion Andy Forsberg of Auburn continues to lead the series point standings. So far this season Forsberg has finished in the top three positions in all five events that have taken place and has certainly lived up to his trademark name of Mr. Excitement in each of those events.

With four second place finishes and one third place outing this season, Forsberg routinely runs the exciting high line around Placerville’s bullring quarter-mile, a cutting edge driving style he has long referred to as “The Fonz.” After five consecutive events without a win, Forsberg will return to the track he calls home this week and hopes to be whistling the tune from “Happy Days” at the end of the night rather than the “Bridesmaid Blues” he has been repeating week after week.

“Another second place, what can I say. Maybe I am just not meant to win of these races anymore,” said Forsberg following his second place finish at Calistoga Speedway last Saturday. “We’re looking forward to coming back up to Placerville and see if we can finally get it done at home.”

Forsberg currently leads the series point standings by 11-points over Rohnert Park’s Brett Rollag. Driving the Walt Bronco owned #6 this season, Rollag has shown great consistency in his season so far with three top five finishes and five top ten finishes. The former series rookie of the year has outnumbered Forsberg in heat race victories by two digits with three wins so far in the season.

Colby Wiesz of Colfax has been extremely consistent this season as well. The driver of the FnF Racing #x1 has scored three top five finishes and four top ten finishes so far this year as well as one B Feature event victory to sit in third place entering Saturday’s event, 24-points out of the lead.

After finishing an impressive third place at Calistoga last Saturday night, Sacramento’s Mike Henry returns to the track where won the 2002 season championship and capped two Civil War titles at. Henry is currently fourth in the standings, 29-points out of the lead and is setting his sights on his first ever Civil War feature event win at Placerville this season aboard the Werbach Motorsports #20.

“I’m hoping this is the week we can get it done at Placerville,” said Henry following his third place at the Calistoga half mile. Henry has won five feature events in weekly action this season at Petaluma and Ocean Speedway and multiple weekly events at Placerville Speedway. “I’ve won Civil War races before but I have never been able to win one at Placerville and that’s one of my biggest goals this year. It’s one of the toughest places to win and it would mean so much to me and this team this year.”

Greg DeCaires, the 2005 Civil War champion and defending Placerville Speedway champion is sitting in the fifth place position. DeCaires is 33-points out of the lead and returns to Placerville Speedway with the momentum of a recent feature event win during the weekly championship series.

Placerville’s own Andy Gregg continues to hang out near the top five ranks in the series standings. Gregg is sixth in the standings, 80-points out of the lead and 10-points ahead of Grass Valley’s Mark Hall in seventh place. Carl Droivold of Grass Valley is eighth in the standings, 94-points out of the lead.

Kyle Larson of Elk Grove is ninth overall in the ranks entering Saturday’s race. Larson is 98-points from the lead position and sits ahead of Jeff Delte of San Jose and Chico’s Stephen Allard. Larson currently leads the series in the run for the 2007 Rookie of the Year title. Mason Moore of Princeton is the current second place runner for the annual title that has as much following and prestige as the season championship.

Both Larson and Moore graduated from the outlaw kart ranks into full size sprint cars this season. Good friends off and on the track, both young drivers are showing great talent and positive futures in auto racing thus far in the season. Among their season highlights so far, Larson has claimed a heat race victory in the Civil War series while Moore has claimed two top 10 finishes in the five events that have taken place so far.

Scott Kinney of Citrus Heights is 20th in standings and would be the third place driver in contention for rookie honors while Placerville’s James Sweeney is just three-points back in 21st. Both Kinney and Sweeney are among the top ten runners in the weekly Placerville point standings as well.

As the Civil War series returns to the sierra foothills this Saturday night look for many of the regular weekly competitors to join the likes of the Civil War series. Placerville’s C.J. Humphreys is sure to be on hand along with fellow local driver Jimmy Trulli of Diamond Springs. Placerville’s Scott Russell is expected to return with a rebuilt machine after an accident two weeks ago. Justin Johnson of Shingle Springs is sure to be on the roster along with Placerville’s Matt Barber, Jackson’s Matt Petty and many more.

The gates of the El Dorado County Fairground will open at 5 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Qualifying is set to begin at 6:30. All seating is general admission at $15 for adults and $10 for juniors. Children tickets will be $4. Generally Civil War Series events are sold out at Placerville Speedway so an early arrival to the track is suggested to insure seating availability. BCRA Midgets to join Civil War for open wheel extravaganza at Placerville
Four time Western States Champion Robby Flock among entries in Midget division
By Bill Sullivan - John Padjen Motorsports

PLACERVILLE, CA – For the first time in the history of the Hoosier Racing Tires California Sprint Car Civil War Series, the fire breathing wingless Midgets of the Bay Cities Racing Association will join the program Saturday night at Placerville Speedway. The evening will feature more than 50 of California’s most talented open wheel drivers for this open wheel racing extravaganza at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds.

Although they are small in size, the wingless midgets of the BCRA are by far one of the most exciting divisions in dirt track open wheel racing. Routinely the feature event field boasts a spectacular combination of speed and talent and it is not uncommon for drivers in the final row of the line up to work their way to the front by the conclusion of the race. In the BCRA Midgets a photo finish is common practice on the fast bullring tracks such as Placerville.

Topping the entry list Saturday night will be four time USAC Western Midget Champion Robby Flock of Murieta. Flock will be aboard the Mike Sala owned #19s midget for the evening. The veteran open wheel driver has more than 400 USAC Western Midget Car Series starts in his career and 52 overall victories in the USAC series including six National Series victories.

Flock currently tops the all time winners list in the USAC series and has successfully competed in every USAC Western Midget Car series season since it’s inception in 1983. Saturday night will mark the first BCRA dirt track appearance for Flock. In past years the former Bellville Nationals titlist has performed well at Placerville Speedway and is known for charging his way through any field he is in.

In the BCRA Midget Series, look for Flock to be joined by series point leader Justin Grant of Ione as well as former multi-champion Floyd Alvis of San Carlos. Additional drivers who have pre-registered for Saturday’s event include 2006 Placerville winner John Sarale of Stockton, Gary Dickenson of Santa Rosa, Oakdale’s Danny Parker, Ralph Cortez of Sacramento and Travis Berryhill of American Canyon to name a few.

In the Civil War Sprint cars, defending champion Andy Forsberg of Auburn continues to lead the series point standings by 11-points over Rohnert Park’s Brett Rollag. Driving the Rick Williams #6 this season. Colby Wiesz of Colfax sits in third place entering Saturday’s event, 24-points out of the lead.

After finishing an impressive third place at Calistoga last Saturday night, Sacramento’s Mike Henry is currently fourth in the standings, 29-points out of the lead. Greg DeCaires, the 2005 Civil War champion and defending Placerville Speedway champion is sitting in the fifth place position. Look for Calistoga’s Mike Benson to enter the Placerville event with the momentum of his recent Civil War victory at the famed Calistoga Speedway. Additional drivers expected include Placerville’s own Andy Gregg, Scott Russell, Jimmy Trulli, CJ Humphreys and Matt Barber along with top rookie contenders Kyle Larson of Elk Grove, Mason Moore of Princeton, Scott Kinney of Citrus Heights and Placerville’s James Sweeney.

The gates of the El Dorado County Fairground will open at 5 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Qualifying is set to begin at 6:30. All seating is general admission at $15 for adults and $10 for juniors. Children tickets will be $4. With the caliber of this event, seating is expected to sell out quickly so an early arrival to the track is suggested to insure seating availability. PRESS RELEASE, HOOSIER RACING TIRES CIVIL WAR SERIES
FROM THE OFFICE OF JOHN PADJEN MOTORPORTS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, TUESDAY, JUNE 19, 2007

Area open wheeler Matt Streeter joins entries for BCRA Midgets at Placerville
Wingless ace has many laps in midget racing competition and could be a factor in special event
By Bill Sullivan

PLACERVILLE, CA – The buzz among the open wheel racing community this week continues to surround the exciting all open wheel event headed for Placerville Speedway this weekend. This Saturday, June 23, the mighty midgets of the Bay Cities Racing Association (BCRA) will join forces with the winged warriors of the Hoosier Racing Tires Civil War Race Series for an action packed night of open wheel racing at its finest.

As of Tuesday afternoon, veteran wingless sprint car driver Matt Streeter of Sacramento has announced his entry into the coveted Midget Division at Placerville Saturday night. Streeter will join a number of veteran racers in this event, including four time USAC Western Midget Car Champion Robbie Flock of Murieta.

While Flock and the division regulars will surely put all their cards on the table Saturday night, Streeter could very well be the driver holding the royal flush at the end of the night. Streeter is best known for his seat time in the Joe Hunt Magnetos Wingless Sprint Car Series here at home but he has had a great deal of seat time in the fierce wingless midgets that will be on hand at Placerville Saturday night.

After making his winged sprint car debut last Saturday at the big Calistoga half mile speedway, Streeter will make his first start in a wingless midget since May 12th. It was on that night that Streeter raced in the company of Flock at Kings Speedway in Hanford and was running second when Flock flipped over with just three laps remaining. Streeter went on to win the USAC Western States Midget event.

Prior to his prestigious win in Hanford, Streeter represented California in fine fashion at the 21st Annual Chili Bowl in Tulsa, OK back in January. In the opening event on Tuesday night of the five day event Streeter finished fourth in the A-feature. In the finals he placed 11th in second C-main of the evening.

This weekend Streeter will drive the Mark Orth owned #24 wingless sprint car during Jesse Heating and Air Night at Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night before arriving at Placerville Speedway Saturday afternoon for the much anticipated twin division program that will bring the stars of the Civil War Sprint Car Series together with the talents of the BCRA Midgets. The event will mark the first time in track history that the two well known campaigns will share the quarter-mile track in the same night.

Flock is four time USAC Western Midget Champion and will be aboard the Mike Sala owned #19s midget for another duel with Streeter since the Hanford race.

In the BCRA Midget Series, look for Flock an Streeter to be joined by series point leader Justin Grant of Ione as well as former multi-champion Floyd Alvis of San Carlos. Additional drivers who have pre-registered for Saturday’s event include John Sarale of Stockton, Gary Dickenson of Santa Rosa, Oakdale’s Danny Parker, Ralph Cortez of Sacramento and Travis Berryhill of American Canyon to name a few.

Press Release, Golden State Challenge Series
For Immediate Release

Golden State Challenge Series set for first Quincy appearance
By Gary Thomas

Quincy, CA - June 20, 2007... After taking last weekend off to allow California racing teams to compete at the Dirt Cup in Washington, the Golden State Challenge Series will kick back into action this Saturday night with its first ever appearance at the American Valley Speedway in Quincy. Located at the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds, American Valley Speedway is a 3/8 mile dirt oval and should be a fun getaway as the intensity level will be a little less severe as opposed to this past weekend’s Dirt Cup where drivers and teams were battling for a $25,000 first place prize.

Leading the GSC points coming into Quincy is 12-time King of California Brent Kaeding of Campbell. Last Monday night in Medford, Kaeding drove the Al’s Roofing Supply, Kaeding Performance No. 69 to his eighth GSC win of the season and in doing so, tied the all-time GSC season win mark set by son Tim in 2004. The Dirt Cup at Skagit Speedway ended with BK finishing fourth after getting around Shane Stewart late in the going. He also scored a stout second place finish on Friday night at the event. Last August Kaeding picked up a win at the American Valley Speedway during a non-sanctioned 410 winged sprint car event. Kaeding’s 14 top five finishes leads the Golden State Challenge Series in that category this season.

Oroville’s Sean Becker comes into Quincy looking to rebound from the Dirt Cup where he failed to make the feature all three night’s. Expectations were high for the former King of California at the Dirt Cup, but they didn’t pan out and his weekend ended when he hit the wall during the B-main on Saturday night while running in a transfer spot. You can bet he’ll come back with a vengeance this weekend, however, and the Fisher-Main Motorsports, Cherry St. Mini Storage No. 35m will be one of the cars to watch at the American Valley Speedway. Becker sits 21 points behind Kaeding for the lead in the GSC point standings.

The highest placing California driver at the Dirt Cup was Chico’s Jonathan Allard who brought home a second place finish in the Williams Motorsports, K & N Filters No. 0. The defending King of California was looking to become the first driver to ever win three straight Dirt Cup’s and he put up a great fight, leading the first 34 laps before getting passed by Brandon Wimmer in traffic. Allard sits third in GSC points and should be strong at Quincy.

Sacramento driver Willie Croft brought home a 14th place finish at his first ever Dirt Cup this past weekend. Croft comes into Quincy sitting fourth in GSC points and is still in search of his first victory of the season aboard the Holey Smokes BBQ, BR Motorsports No. 29.

Rounding out the top five in the GSC standings is Los Gatos driver Jason Statler. Statler, however, wasn’t positive if he would be at Quincy after he and his former team split ways a week ago. He is expected to be back soon though aboard the famous 00 he has driven for many years.

Other drivers in the top 10 of the Golden State Challenge Series points include: Ronnie Day of Salinas, Brett Miller of Chico, Jon Maiwald of Gilroy, Jason Botsford of Tracy and Bud Kaeding of Campbell. Additional possible entrants for Quincy will be Australian Trevor Green, Chico drivers Stephen Allard & Johnny Gray, Fresno’s Mark Workentine, Rio Vista’s Dan Simpson, father/son combo Mark Tabor Sr. & Jr of Reno NV, Grass Valley’s Pat Harvey and more.

GSC regular Evan Suggs picked up his very first winged sprint car win last Thursday during opening night of the Dirt Cup, but got upside down on Saturday night and isn’t expected at Quincy this weekend. The Scotts Valley competitor looked very strong each night at the Dirt Cup and is set to return to action next Saturday at Tulare’s Thunderbowl Raceway.

This Saturday’s event at the American Valley Speedway will be the start of the final eight races of the Golden State Challenge Series season. The action is getting down to the wire and we’ll be crowing this year’s King of California in just over a month.

Track staff at the American Valley Speedway recommend bringing a coat because they say that it can chill off at night. They also expressed how excited they are to have GSC in town and look forward to this weekend’s event. Gates at the American Valley Speedway will open at 5 pm on Saturday with tickets costing $25. Jessee Heating and Air Brings Cool Breeze into Chico this Friday Night
by Troy Hennig

CHICO, CA (6-18-07) - Jessee Heating and Air will help sponsor point race number twelve during the 2007 Feather Falls Casino / Hoosier Race Tire / Coors point championship season which continues this Friday night, June 22, at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. Three divisions will highlight the night of racing. The 410-sprint cars, wingless sprints and dirt modifieds will all converge on John and Robbie Padjen’s Silver Dollar Speedway.

Front grandstand gate will open at 6 pm. Racing is slated to start at 7 pm. Adult general grandstand admission is $10.00. Juniors and seniors are $8.00 while children are $4.00.

One of the most recognizable sprint car teams throughout this decade has been the Johnny Gray driven #71. The Chico driver and his father’s business, Jessee Heating and Air, have been on the side of their sprint car since day one. This Friday night, Jessee Heating and Air is sponsoring the races. The sprint car main event winner will receive $2,000 for the win. A large field of 410-winged sprint cars are expected to try and cash in on the big payday. Chico’s Jonathan Allard has dominated of late winning four out of the nine main events he has entered this year. Second place Andy Forsberg is looking to get off the snide and win his first main event of the year. The defending champion won two main events last season. Oroville’s Sean Becker is set to rebound after a tough weekend in Skagit. Chico’s Stephen Allard is making a mid-season charge to the top of the standings. Chico’s Brett Miller is hoping to find victory lane soon. Miller’s last visit came on April 6. Miller’s last main event saws him finish in third, right behind Gray.

Chico’s Johnny Gray is coming off his best main event finish of the year at Silver Dollar Speedway. On June 8, Gray finished second to Jonathan Allard during the 25-lap main event. That finish moved Gray into the top ten of points. Last week the team ventured to the state of Washington to race the Dirt Cup at Skagit Speedway. On Thursday night the team and driver finished a career best third in the main event. Needless to say, things are starting to turn around for the Chico based sprint car team. Gray’s best year at Silver Dollar came during the 2004 season. That year he won 4 main events, including Jessee Heating and Air Night, on his way to a championship.

Rookie driver Brandon Davis makes the 3-hour driver to Chico from Rohnert Park every wingless race with his father. The family affair now has the Davis mobile atop the wingless sprint point standings. Davis has one win and leads Jay Youngman by ten-points. Davis leads the division with nine top-tens. Matt Streeter sits in third and only 14-points behind. Billy Wallace, three wins, is in the fourth spot and only 15-points out of the lead.

Durham’s Mike Sohnrey won his second main event of the year last Friday night. However, it was Chico’s Richard Papenhausen still the man to beat in the point standings. Papenhausen extended his lead to a commanding 81-points over Darin Ruley. Papenhausen and Ruley are the only two drivers to compete in all nine races this year for the division.

CRA SPRINTS RETURN TO THE PAS SATURDAY; SPENCER TAKES SANTA MARIA THRILLER

Nine different drivers have tasted victory in the first nine Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint races at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway this year. The track tries for a 10th different winner this Saturday when the series returns to the 1/2-mile dirt oval.

Mike Spencer of Temecula, Calif., one of the nine who have won at The PAS in 2007, emerged the winner of Saturday’s 30-lap “shootout” at Santa Maria (Calif.) Speedway, leading the final two laps in his Temecula Valley Pipe and Supply/Arizona Race Mart Maxim/Shaver. Spencer was the last of five drivers to lead the competitive race, passing Rodney Argo on the white-flag lap!

Davey Pombo finished second at Santa Maria, followed by fast qualifier Rickie Gaunt, Argo and Jesse Mack. Other drivers to lead the race were Tom Stansberry, Josh Ford and Jimmy Crawford. Spencer is the only driver of the five Santa Maria leaders to win a USAC/CRA feature this season!

Tony Jones of Norco, Calif. has a 121-point lead over Spencer in the new CRA standings after finishing sixth at Santa Maria. Gaunt is third but is only 30 behind Spencer going into Saturday’s Perris outing, which offers 74 total points.

WESTERN MIDGETS HEAD FOR BAKERSFIELD SATURDAY; MITCHELL GRABS ALTAMONT MIDGET MAIN

Matt Mitchell of Yorba Linda, Calif. heads for Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway this Saturday with one thought in mind – wresting the USAC Western Midget Series point lead away from his teammate Johnny Rodriguez.

Mitchell trails Rodriguez, of Elk Grove, Calif., by only 12 points, with Scott Pierovich of Alamo, Calif. only six more behind. Saturday’s Bakersfield program offers 74 total points.

Mitchell passed Rodriguez on the 22nd lap of Saturday’s 30-lap race at Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy, Calif. and sped to his first series triumph. Dallas Melby, Paul Zimmerly, Pierovich and Justin Melton completed the “top-five” at the checkered flag. Rodriguez led the first 21 laps of the race.

Pierovich fared the best of the top-three in the standings when the Midgets visited Bakersfield in March, finishing eighth in a race won by Danny Stratton. Rodriguez and Mitchell failed to post qualifying times for the event and Mitchell was the first to drop out of the feature.

FIVE RACES HIGHLIGHT SATURDAY’S KING TACO FAMILY NIGHT AT IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY

Five races including an Auto Club Late Model race and a K&N Filters Ford Focus Midget race highlight Saturday night’s (June 23) King Taco Family Night at Irwindale Speedway. Children 12 years of age and under will be admitted for free when accompanied by an adult. All-State Insurance, NASCAR’s official insurance partner, is the event sponsor that evening.

The Auto Club Late Model division, featuring one of the most competitive fields in recent years, headlines Saturday’s racing schedule. Aided by top three finishes in his last four races including two victories, Canyon Country’s Aaron Staudinger currently leads the division point standings with 270 points. However, five other drivers are within striking distance of the leader including Tim Huddleston of Agoura Hills (268), Doug McComb of Thousand Oaks (240), rookie Jace Meier of Las Vegas (236), Michael Wright of Yucca Valley (230) and Brian Jones of Thousand Oaks (224).

Thanks to six top three finishes in as many races, Quartz Hill’s Pat Mintey Jr is having an impressive season leading the King Taco Super Trucks division with 286 points. Matt Hicks of Santee is in second place with 236 points. Logan Henson of Santee is in third pace with 224 points.

Only six points separate Vista Paint Super Stock current division points leader Bryan Harrell of Riverside and Darren Cheek of San Bernardino. In the last race on June 9, Harrell, the defending division champion, had his three-race win streak snapped by Cheek who won his second race of the season. Cheek has finished no lower than third in any race this season.

While Oak Hill’s Chad Schug has won three of the first six Legend Cars races this season including last week’s hotly contested race, Darren Amidon of Santee has played the role of Mr. Consistency finishing no lower that 4th place including a victory and two runner-up finishes, good enough to lead the division standings with 282 points. Upland’s Austin Grabowski is in second place with 248 points with Schug in 9th place having missed two starts.

The K&N Filters Ford Focus Midgets make their first appearance of the season, the first of a special five race series at the Speedway. Tim Skoglund leads the USAC California Paved Ford Focus series with 326 points with Tom Dyer in second with 310 points and Nic Faas in third with 301 points.

Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. with qualifying sessions. The King Taco fan appreciation autograph session will take place on the track with the drivers, crew members and race cars at 5:45 p.m. and the first green flag waved at 7 p.m.

Test and Tune, the popular drag racing activity is held every Thursday under the lights from 5-10 p.m. The activity allows local drag racers the opportunity race their street legal cars on Irwindale Speedway’s 1/8-mile drag strip. It costs only $20.00 to race, $10.00 to watch ($5.00 for kids 12-6 yrs. and 5 yrs. and under are admitted for free).

BCRA Midgets Panning For Gold in Placerville on Saturday, June 23rd
By Robert Haugh

The famed Bay Cities Racing Association DMS Race Products 2007 Midget series continues its season this Saturday June 23 at the smooth 1/4-mile Placerville Speedway in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. The first BCRA Midget race scheduled at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds on April 14 was canceled due to inclement weather.

Among the stellar entries will be local Midget chauffeurs: Ione's 16-year-old sensation and current BCRA points leader Justin Grant in the #17 Thurston Spike/Esslinger and Sacramento's Ralphie “The Racer” Cortez in the Walker-Cortez Motorsports #31 Stealth/Esslinger who rests fourth in the series points.

Cortez is only 18 points back from current second-place points man, 7-time BCRA champion Floyd Alvis, “The Ageless Wonder” who will be piloting his #18 Champion Automotive Stealth/Esslinger on Saturday.

Reigning two-time BCRA champion John Sarale of Stockton, last year's Placerville Speedway victor will be chauffeuring the Sarale Farms #32 Stealth/Riolo Chevy Saturday, hoping to duplicate his 2006 triumph at the 1/4-mile clay oval.

Other top entrants include third-place David Prickett in the Neverlift Motorsports #15 Stealth/Arias, sixth-place Travis Berryhill in the Berryhill Racing #11 Stealth/Esslinger, Fresno's Brian Gard, winner of the only dirt race of the BCRA season at King's Speedway in March wheeling the Mark Borghesani #57 Spike/Brayton Ford, West Coast Midget veteran Robby Flock piloting the Mike Sala #19s Spike/Bob Wirth Mopar and a plethora of other top Midget teams, including Santa Rosa's Gary Dickenson, making his first BCRA dirt appearance of the year, manning his #8 Stealth/Pontiac. Dickenson has three consecutive Top Ten fini shes including a Trophy Dash win at Lakeport three weeks ago. Dickenson is currently 10th in the 2007 DMS Race Products BCRA series points standings.

Keeping it in the family, Gary's brother Steve of Corvallis, Oregon will be piloting his #99s Edmunds/Pontiac. Also making the tow down from Oregon will be Sherwood, Oregon's Rich Gentes behind-the-wheel of his Predator/Pontiac.

2002 third-place driver and car owner champion Bill Lindsey will be piloting Stu Donaldson's #87 Kane/Chevy II and Oakdale's Danny Parker will be driving Bob Roza's #20 Beast/Esslinger.

Doug Hunting, the 2003 and 2005 BCRA Midget Lite champion will be making his BCRA Midget debut piloting Ted Hunting's #2 Spike/Esslinger on Saturday. Joining Hunting in the rookie battle will be Kevin Morris, driving his father Del Morris' #17k Spike Esslinger. Morris currently sits seventh in the BCRA points battle after missing the last BCRA race at Ukiah two weeks ago due to college exam commitments.

Other entries expected to be competing on Saturday, but not pre-entered include Pleasanton's Pete Davis in his #00 Beast/Esslinger, Santa Clara's Rick Faeth in his #3 Stealth/Chevy V4, Rick Haugh Jr., of Butte in his father Rich's #51 Maxim/Gaerte and Auburn's Dave Stoltz in his #77 Pacific Flyer/Buick V6.

Joining the DMS Race Products BCRA Midgets on Saturday will be Placerville's Wingless Sprints, Pro Stocks and Pure Stocks.
