I know that this has been covered before, but I would like opinions on Sprint Car magazines. Best bang for the buck. I am not so much into tech, just a fan wanting to read about old timers, current goings on etc......Thanks for the input.....

by far the best magazine was OPEN WHEEL. Every issue had some tech plus current stories plus old time stuff. I would say that now Flatout and Sprint and Miget are about the same. Get them both.

Yes, Sprint Car and Midget magazine and FlatOut magazine are both great, if you can stomach in Sprint Car reading about jeff swindell monthly-talking about how well he used to do and how well Sammy is doing---nothing like bragging about your family. Hey, go for the back issues, though very pricey at $5 a pop, but some good ones still available.

I miss the old Open Wheel. I dont get any magazines currently. I was getting Sprint Car and Midget, but as much as I like Dave Argabright's writing,I dont want to read fiction. I liked KO's column the best .............

I used to get Open Wheel also, and it was a down right shame it left us. I used to get SC&M but was just wondering if anything else has surfaced......

When I worked for Danny Smith in Florida, he had a ton of Australian sprint car magazines that were pretty cool too. I can't remember the names, but I might find out, and order a few. Not sure what international postage cost nowadays. Might be worth it...
But yeah, every sprint car fan should have S&M and Flatout....

i have to say the condition of sprint car & midget (6 out of10 ) issues severly damaged upon delivery left me a little miffed. especially when they stated they could do nothing about it!
flat our for me, the format is better and yes, jeff swindell does not have an article in it.
JMO here folks
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..

Yeah, I would have to agree with the Flat Out. I got that mag for a few years before I let the subscription lapse. I probably have 4 years of it sitting on a shelf. That was a good read. If I were going back to a publication I would certainly consider this one again!

I believe the magazine you're speaking of is "Oval Express". It's a high quality, monthly publication from Australia. Goodle Oval Express to find their web site for ordering information.

IMO it depends on the area of the country your interested in. SC&M is 80% Pennsylvania and USAC related. Nothing wrong with that if that is where most of their subscribers are but you'll get very little about the midwest tracks. They do a Knoxville Nationals issue every year but they have Bruce Ellis write it and the article isn't complete unless he can mention Fred Rahmer 106 times regardless of where he ran. I let my subscription expire but I did enjoy KO, Argabright and a few others. I also like Jeff Swindells columns. At least he has an opinion and something relevant to say unlike some others.
Flatout seems to cover a wider range of areas and has more driver one on ones.
