2012 Points Season Opens At Jackson Speedway Racing action for points for the 2012 season began Saturday night at the Jackson Speedway. Competition in all six classes began with some excellent racing action in the events. With nearly perfect weather conditions for Pillars Pub and Eatery and Complete Insurance Services Night, a total of 83 cars turned out for the evening’s action, which saw Aaron Betz of Avoca, MN winning the Yellow Book Sport Compact Feature. Winning the Car Toyz of Marshall Hobby Stock feature was Shane Klaassen of Little Rock, IA, while Matthew Looft of Swea City, IA won the Bohl’s Small Engine and Marine 360 Sport Modified feature. Bruce Anderson ofTrimont, MN found victory lane in the Jackson Speedway 305 Sprint feature and Trent Schroeder of Worthington, MN held on to claim the Jackson Speedway Stock Car feature. Rounding out the feature victors on the night was Skyler Prochaska of Lakefield, MN. Heat race wins went to Nate Coopman and Aaron Betz in the Sport Compacts; Shane Klaassen, Casey Iehl and Drew Bargloff in the Hobby Stocks; Kyle Steuber and Matthew Looft in the Sport Modifieds; Brandon Halverson and Bruce Anderson in the 305 Sprints; Luke Sathoff and Derrick Voehl in the Stock Cars and Mark Toews and Skyler Prochaska in the 360 Sprints. During the intermission, several drivers made their way through the grandstands to pass the helmet for fellow driver Doug Martens, who was injured in a mishap at Rapid Speedway earlier this season. Over $750 was raised to assist Martens with medical expenses in his recovery. The season continues Saturday night, June 9, with The Shear Shack and Griffith Decorative Concrete as the sponsors for the night’s racing. Action in all six classes will get underway with hot laps starting at 6:30 p.m. with racing to follow.
