Did anyone catch Smoke's sarcastic interview/rant after Talledega? Absolutely priceless!! Ripped Nascar to shreds for the joke that restrictor-plate racing is. If anyone has a link to it, please post it. How 'bout taking a year off from cup and come play in the dirt Smoke?

Tony only got half the points, what NASCAR really needs to do is to remove the safety equipment from the cars. This action will make the Roman Galdiators look as if they are in pre-school....

Good ole Smoke. Obviously Tony was trying to dump on NASCAR during this interview and not the fans. I'm sure you could replace the word "fans" in his comments with "NASCAR". That was more or less what he really wanted to say. I guess had he done so he could be facing some type of fine, or probation. Politics!!!!!

Just one more reason to love that guy. In fact - in all the years I've been watching Tony - his only black eye is his support for Danica but I'm sure as reality sets in we'll see an interview similar to this on that topic as well. "Seemed like a good idea at the time......"

The problem with Tony's rant is that he did not ofer any solution to the problem at Daytona and Talladega.
How do you keep the race cars under 200 mph because you cannot afford to have one go up into the grandstands? They have tried repeatedly to find the answer. Each time something looks good, the crew chiefs find a way to work around the fix and get more speed.
I'm not a fan of restrictor plate racing and can agree with most of what Tony said. In fact, I thought the sarcasm was pretty funny.
HOWEVER, what is the solution?........Really, what's the solution?....
From the complaints I have been reading in the forums about Eldora, it sounds like there are a few problems that could use some fixing in Rossburg!

Answer maybe?: instead of grinding down the banking at Bristol (which was perfect), Nascar should be more worried about taking the banking out of Daytona and Talladega. Last I checked, Indianapolis was a 2.5 mile oval that doesn't require engine restrictions when they race there and they're going well over 210+ into 1 and 3. Knock the banking down 15 degrees and watch as average speeds come back in line while those that can drive rise to the top of the leaderboard. Of course, this might mean that possibly the best driver with the fastest car will win....

I think the drivers and teams already know the solution.
Get rid of the restrictor plate completely (unlimited power), but take away downforce by removing more of the spoiler if need be.
By doing those 2 things, you break up the pack because the guys with more power can drive away from the others, yet EVERYONE has to slow down for the corners because they can't go flat out all the way around anymore (that's how Bill Elliot came from 2 laps down (under green) to win @ Daytona in the 1980's).
Make it so they have to DRIVE the cars on these big tracks and the pack will break apart, only bad part is, you will see VERY boring racing because they'll get strung out just like they do @ California, Michigan, Atlanta, Charlotte, etc., etc., etc..
I say bulldoze the whole place and build a 1/2 mile dirt track there instead.

I could agree with that except, seriously, ummm....the straightaway will seperate people? I'm pretty sure, no matter the racing(except drag racing), it's the turns that seperate the drivers? I'd be willing to bet that every single stock car entered in sundays race will dyno within 20hp of each other, not every single driver will be able to go the same speed in the corners. Part of that's car, a lots driver. You want the fastest car and driver to win, add power and make the crew chief and driver harness it (that goes for ALL racing). You want a good show, give them all 300hp and send them out at full throttle for 4 hours. That's also why go kart racing at the beach is usually exciting. When you can't outrun them through skill, eventually you have to bang people out of the way to win.

what is your problem with Danica? If you take a few moments and look at race results, she is way ahead of alot of men drivers.

It was classic. I agree he wasn't dumping the fans, he was dumping on NASCAR for plate racing.

seriously, we all know the problem with danica, wait...except you!
how far is "way ahead" by the way, just curious about the stats with starts and finishes thus far..
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..
Life is good...
