BUD KAEDING LEADS OCEAN SPRINTS BACK TO
ACTION ON FRIDAY NIGHT
WATSONVILLE,
CALIFORNIA (May 1, 2012) – Campbell's Bud Kaeding will climb back aboard the Werbach Motorsports
#20 on Friday night when the Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo continue
their 2012 season with their second points race of the year. Kaeding leads the series after getting the
victory in the season opener back on March 31.
After a
rain out of the April 13 event, the Ocean Sprints competitors are gearing up
for a busy stretch where the series will compete for three consecutive Friday
nights in May and race four times in June as well.
A total of
seven drivers are within ten points of series points leader Kaeding including
Auburn's Andy Forsberg and 2011 series champion Ronnie Day of Salinas. Day, driving the Keith Day Trucking #22 car, finished
second in the season opening main event.
Also in
striking distance are San Martin's "Cowboy" Craig Smith in the #39,
Stockton's Brad Furr, "Sugar" Shane Golobic of Fremont in the Steve
Osborne #9j, and San Jose's Nick Green in the All Weld #14 mount.
Golobic is
fresh off of a fourth place finish with the Cancen Oil King of the West Sprints
at Placerville Speedway after running as high as second in the event.
Other
series regulars expected on Friday night include local favorites Kurt Nelson of
Gilroy, San Jose's Ryan Rusconi, Gilroy's Tommy Laliberte, and Salinas drivers Jason Chisum, Jeremy
Chisum, Carter Train, and Orval Zane Burke, Jr.
Joining
this talented group of series regulars on Friday night will be the return of
the Ringo family with Nick Ringo, Jr. and his nephew Nick Ringo III. Both drivers hail from Morgan Hill with the younger Ringo, age 20,
driving the Ringo Property Services #3T. Ringo, Jr. will drive the Lana Industries #4S.
Friday's races
for the Ocean Sprints will also include racing for the American Stocks, Dwarf
cars, Sport Mods, and Wingless Sprints. Adult tickets are just $17 with seniors 65+ $15 and kids ages 6-12 are
$13. The family pass for two adults and
two children is value priced at just $55. Qualifying will get underway at 6 p.m. with fan gates opening at 4:30
p.m.
