California Sprint Car & Midget Power Poll for May 1, 2012

ELK GROVE, CALIFORNIA (May 1, 2012) -The second edition of the StevenBlakesley.com California Sprint Car & Midget Power Poll has been published and the top-three in the order have remained unchanged.

Thanks to a King of the West win at Placerville Speedway, KWS points leader Tim Kaeding leads the Power Poll. Kaeding was #1 among the media panel and ranked 2nd in the statistical analysis. Bud Kaeding, with five wins this season including Saturday night at the Tulare Thunderbowl in the Rebel Cup, remains second in the standings.

Despite a tenth place finish at Perris in the USAC/CRA on Saturday, Hollister's Ryan Bernal has maintained the respect of the media by holding third in the poll. One ballot said that Bernal "simply wins in anything he jumps in".

Jon Allard was the biggest mover in the poll by leaping up to fifth despite still failing to rank in the top-20 of our statistical analysis. Brent Kaeding makes his first appearance on the poll at #9 while Rico Abreu narrowly missed the top-10 after his win at Chico on Friday night.

About the CA Sprint Car & Midget Power Poll:

Eligible drivers come from any injected winged or non-wing Sprint Car division in the state along with full Midgets as well.

The poll includes top-ten lists from various media members including site editor Steven Blakesley, photographer Chris Cleveland, announcers Troy Henning, Ron Lingron, and Bill Sullivan, King of the West PR guru Gary Thomas, and driver PR specialist PJ Peterson. A statistical analysis of California racing stats by Jeff Bye, Jr. is combined with the media poll to create a current picture of the top-10 drivers in the state.

Power polls will be released every first and third Tuesday throughout the racing season until the first week of December, when StevenBlakesley.com will crown a California Sprint & Midget Power Poll" champion for the season.
