Went to the ASCS show at Salina on Friday because I had been to the WoO show there last year and liked the track. It's fun to go to the races at a place that "gets it." When we arrived, the ticket window line was long so an employee jumped out and started working that line with cash-only sales. We got right in.
Inside, we encountered a friendly and efficient concessions staff and perhaps the cleanest restrooms I've ever seen at an Oklahoma track.
Then, the races ended at 10 a.m., (partly because the support class was small). There was a short intermission, but none of that ridiculous hour-long stuff designed only to bilk the paying customer out of more concessions money. The folks at Salina gave us a great racing experience, then got us back on the road at a reasonable hour.
The ASCS National Tour is back at Salina two more times. If this is the kind of treatment I can expect as a fan, I'll be back. We gripe on here a lot when we encounter things we don't like. I figued it was only right that we applaud when a place gets it right.
"I'd pay $15 to watch a sprint car sit still."
