What was illegal about his tire? Also what tire did Tyler Gruendyk have on in time trials? Both of these drivers know better than to run an unaproved tire.

The 747 that Sammons drives at the Grove also had tire issues; after timing the team was told that they qualified with Hoosier front tires which is illegal, same rules as the WoO for the All Stars; his time was disqualified and the officials should have let the team know when they came to their pit area telling them when they had to be ready to time trial. Just my opinion, and Area Auto Racing News Publisher/Editor Lenny Sammons was equally miffed, stating they did not even have any front tires other than Hoosiers. He told his boy just to shake it off, and just go get some laps in after they found some front Goodyear rubber.

Maybe this is why the confusion for Sammons. Williams Grove and all other Pa tracks rules state that any tire can be run on the front. I copied this from the Williams Grove rules page. I thought Williams Grove and other tracks adopted the Outlaws rules, but I guess they didn't go full fledge Outlaw rules for their weekly Programs. So I could see where there would be some confusion with some teams.

Tires and Wheels –– The same right rear tire must be used for the entire racing program including heat and feature events. Cars qualifying through the Consolation or B-Main may use a different tire for that event but must use their heat tire for the feature. - Tire Change between events Car to be placed at the rear of the starting line-up for the next race. Tire compound MAY BE CHANGED. - All time trial programs will require teams to use the same tire for all qualifying events, but a new tire may be used for the feature. Tire compound MAY BE CHANGED for feature. - One-time exemption Each team will receive one exemption (WG sanctioned races) for a tire change occurring after a qualifying event. When taking this exemption, (a WG official must be notified prior to tire change). The same manufacturer and compound MUST BE USED. - One tire per show rule is not in effect for day shows. - Any brand tires allowed for front. - Goodyear tires are mandatory for left & right rear Size - Soft To Harder FRONTS 100 200 400 Front 84.0/8.0 – 15 D2591 D2592 D2594 Matl. And the Outlews rule for tires.

15.10 Tires
A.) Only Goodyear tires will be permitted for competition on all four (4) positions
of the racecar at all World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series events. The tire will be
available in the following compounds:
Front: Only the following Goodyear Tires will be permitted for competition:
GY 200 (D 2592)
GY 400 (D 2594 – Emergency Tire)
Rear: Only the following Goodyear Tires will be permitted for competition:
GY 100
GY 200
GY 300
GY 400 (Emergency Tire)

World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Director and/or Supervisory Officials

All Stars Tire rule.

3. Tires
3.1.1.1 Right and Left rear tires must be Goodyear. The compounds available will be G100, G200, and G300. The
same right rear must be used for qualifying, heat race and A-Main. The tire will be marked and compound
noted when you cross the scales after qualifying. If you get a flat or cut right rear anytime during the night
you must replace it with the same compound. In the event a tire gets damaged you must notify an All Star
official immediately. The tire change must be approved by an All Star official and the tire may be confiscated.
Any car that gets a damaged tire in the heat race cannot start better than 11th in the A-Main. If a change is made
between qualifying and heat race, that car loses its time for the rest or the program. A different spec tire can
be used in the C-Main, B-Main, and Dash, but then use the marked tire for the A-Main.
3.1.1.2 Both Front tires must be Goodyear 200 (D 2592) A Goodyear 400 will be the emergency tire and may only be
introduced at the discretion of the UNOH All Star Series.
3.1.2. Any rear tire tested must conform to the manufacturer submitted benchmark sample.
3.1.2.1. Any tire that does not match the benchmark will be considered illegal and that driver and car will be
suspended for the next ten All Star sanctioned events and all winnings will be forfeited for the event the tire
was determined illegal by laboratory test.
3.1.2.2. Owners may be required to pay lab cost for tire test. The costs incurred may be up to $400.00
3.1.2.3. Any team can protest a tire’s legality for a fee of $400.00.
3.1.2.3.1. Process:
3.1.2.3.1.1. $400.00 payment made payable to All Star Championship Racing, Inc.
3.1.2.3.1.2. Tire Sample is taken and sealed, for example sample is sealed and placed in FedEx container.
3.1.2.3.1.3. Lab Results will be sent to all parties concerned within 7 business days
