Stephen Allard finishes 7th in Medford By Gary Thomas
Medford, OR - June 13, 2007... Thanks to help from Cross Creek Trucking, Chico’s Stephen Allard was able to compete with the Golden State Challenge Series for the first time in nearly a month this past Monday night at the Southern Oregon Speedway. A last minute decision was made to run in Medford and it payed off with a good run in the 30 lap feature.
After qualifying 18th quickest Stephen then started from the front row in his heat and won it going away aboard the Cross Creek Trucking, Finley Farms, Johnny’s Lock & Safe No. 1m. Starting way back in the ninth row of the 30 lap feature, the Chico native charged forward and finished the contest with a seventh place finish. "I can’t say enough how appreciative we are of the help Cross Creek Trucking gave to get us up here," Stephen said after the race.
Don’t forget about Superior Dairy owner Tim Jones putting on his first Chico performance this Saturday night at 8 pm at the Oasis Bar & Grill with his solo acoustic guitar and harmonica show.
Stephen will be in competition on Saturday night at the Calistoga Speedway with the Civil War 360 series as he drives the Miller 2sb sprinter. The 410 sprints at Silver Dollar Speedway are dark this week but will start back up next week with Point Race #11.
Following a fifth place finish last Friday, Stephen has now moved up to third in points. He is just two points behind second place Andy Forsberg and 24 behind brother Jonathan for the lead. SA’s bro, however, will not be running all the Chico point shows so Stephen is in very good position as we have nine races left to determine this year’s Silver Dollar Speedway track champion.
