I feel the need to say you might want to up the requirements for safety crew and/or track personnel. After seeing a potentially scary accident on the front stretch I see track crew get out of the push truck and approach the crash in FLIP FLOPS. I see a guy in a shirt that says SECURITY on the back and he has his hat on sideways. I see huge cracks in the sidewalk in front of the grandstands where a woman tripped and fell. I see rusty old bleachers, fading paint, no REAL fire crew, two HUGE "intermissions", etc... I just see a place where someone is scrimping so much that it is slowly sinking. This year not even running points if I understood what I heard correctly. People miss dollars while hunting for nickles sometimes, you get out of a place what you put in. Used to be a legendary track and it is slowly deteriorating. Just my observations. I won't be back for a long time.

I AM SURE THEY WON'T MISS YOU. DEVILS BOWL STILL NOT A BAD PLACE. I WENT TO SOME TRACKS IN OK THAT ARE NOT MUCH BETTER THAN A COW PASTURE AND RACERS AND FANS STILL HAD FUN. SOUNDS LIKE A PERSONAL PROBLEM.

Just be glad its still there. The land is worth too much to be a race track but lanny is a real race lover. We he's gone or when housing recovers some you can bet the kids will cash it in.

It's not about me dude, i am just saying if there were to be a bad wreck or god forbid a large fire, the drivers would be in trouble. I would like to see driver AND fan safety considered more, thats all.

So you would disagree that Devils Bowl Speedway is not the same as it used to be?

SFSFan actually makes some excellent points. I've been going out to the Bowl since the eighties. It's still a very good facility, but some of the things SFS points out are dead on. The concrete walkway in front of the stands is a big problem. It doesn't surprise me that someone tripped and got hurt. I hate to say this, but if the track gets sued on that one they deserve it. There's really no excuse for that. The surprising thing to me is that they have always improved that track, and not just the parking lot, stands, and press box. They've improved the bathrooms a ton too. If they're not putting money back into it now, I can only think it's because they believe it won't be there much longer.

yes the push truck people and security were in the wrong and should have stayed back until trained personnel are on scene this is something we are working on as i know a lot of tracks have this problem, but an on site fire crew is there for each event the truck is a F-450 equipped with 350 lb of bc dry chemical unit and 50 ft of hoseline and 100 of atc foam unit that has alcohol type foam and numerous cold fire and dry chemical portable extinguishers ,a hydrulic rescue tool and first aid equipment with at least 2 n.f.p.a 610 certified personnel on board. Usually we have 2 trucks on site the second unit has a 350lb bc dry chemicl unit and numerous cold fire and dry chemical extinguishers on board also being staffed with 2 nfpa 610 certified personnel, and the fire crew did respond i saw it on the video. as for the other problems you mention i cannot address them as i am just responsible for the fire response, but i have been to numerous tracks that dont even have a pickup with fire extinguishers in it just someone on foot with 1 extinguisher. We also have a on site ems unit with paramedic and emt on board for injuries to be treated and transported if needed.

Thank you for clarifying the fire crew issue. Sounds like that part is covered.

Wow, I could really go off on this topic. But I will leave it to better personnel.
