Just found the track I will be at the most this year. Start time at 8 on a friday is great. Midgets, and micro's will be good on that track and just when that isn't enough, on the same night they'll have full size sprints. Its like a bigger I-44 but with the big sprints thrown in. Can't go wrong with that. Also, get it out of the way on Friday and still have all weekend with the family. Thank you Creek County.

Jeff,

Go ahead and spend the two hour drive to Tulsa when Brills will have just about the same number of Champs. Creek is running Champs instead of injected sprints. I will be going to Creek on occasion to see the ASCS shows.

Also, Jeff let me ask you what do you have against the tracks locally? It seems as if you are running down the tracks in the area. You said in another post in another thread that the smaller tracks were not suited to your enjoyment of sprint car racing but in this post you are jumping up and down like a little kid at christmas because of Creek.

They are not running micros and midgets weekly either. Look at the webpage.

"I agree. Creek is just too small for winged sprint cars. I will go to the shows this year because it will be cool to see the National Tour guys there poppin wheel stands, but I will leave saying "man, it just wasn't as good as it coulda been on a bigger track." I am an advocate for the big half miles. Thats why I will be at Devil's Bowl both nights this week, spending my money in Mequite, not OKC. But thats a different topic...." If you forgot.

Where I live it is only an hour and 15 mins to Creek. Not saying I will go weekly but it is cool to have the option. What do I have against "local" tracks? They all suck when you spent your whole life going to SFS. Any other track isn't the same. I don't mean to run down the other tracks, my bad. Sorry I got a little excited about Creek County. Maybe I will change my mind and just stay home and do yardwork on weekends or something.

At least Creek County is smart enough to hold the number of classes of car they run each night. We don't have to sit through 8 classes of 3 car heats, and Features. The Tow Trucks get more laps in at some tracks than the cars do.

I can drive the extra miles to Creek and still be at home in bed before some of the other tracks finish their A mains.

LOL 9pm is when Unc's filter is turned off - I think he sleep about as much as I do lol.

And Jeff if there was a like button for your last post I would hit it about 200 times. I totally understand every aspect of what you are saying. August of last year I didn't go to one race. The record heat was just too much, added with the 4-5 hour round trip drive's, money, etc etc - to sit through races you didn't really have reason to expect much of.

I took the time and did some remodeling and stuff at my home, hung out with my girl and the kids, went swimming a lot - you get the idea lol.

And I get exactly what you're saying - it's about the option. You don't have expectations or a level of anticipation like you did for your whole life at a track/facility that proved at the time, and at every turn since, to be the best around. But you also have enough fresh anticipation of gettin' out there and seeing a good show.

That was one of the most cruel things about the SFS closure - most of the races you saw after that for quite a while - were very depressing. Not to single anyone out - but thats just how it was. We were used to a couple thousand people leaving the fairgrounds and everyone was happy - and even if they weren't......it was a glitch. there were way more good races than bad. For most tracks - it's the total opposite. But it's starting to get brighter somewhat. 2010 was horrible. last year was a lot better - and this year should be even better. What sucks for us is that all of it requires more driving time - and for some that is beyond pain - it makes it null and void. But at least some good racing has returned.

And hey we gained a track at Claremore - should gain another at Bartlesville (not that it matters that much to metro race fans - but hey it's something). Port City and Creek will both have quality shows most of the year - that drive is easier to swallow for most - and getting creative with a bit of carpooling can help a lot too. Lawton should still be a viable option - it's been pretty good the last couple years. Wish the track surface would be more consistent but....hard to keep moisture in tracks when it is 115 out and ground temps are near or over 130.

My one visit to Ardmore last year was a bust - but I liked the track configuration and could see from all reviews that some shows there will be worth going to. Salina Highbanks - tons of anticipation for the sprint specials there.

I-44 Speedway finished last year on a very high note - hopefully that momentum floods into this season and the loss of Dutton's makes I-44 solid in each class.

And sorry to many - I am just mentioning the open wheel stuff. It's what I go to see. I appreciate good modified/stock car racing - but it seems at most places that the surfaces those teams love are precisely what puts the fans to sleep and creates a slow funeral procession of race fans throughout the night. hate one groove racing.

But hell man I'm just hopin' I have the funds to go to some of the shows I'm interested in. I totally left out Brill lol - I look forward to the OCRS show there. I hope they run good support classes there. I hope the E-sprints run - they were a great suprise the night Wescoe and I went last year - much MUCH better than I thought and what I had heard.

Really more than anything - I just would like to see the kiddos at all of these tracks. It's been very depressing to see so few of them, and for those who use their thinker....it's a very bad omen. I almost think it needs to be totally free not just for 5 and under but for something like 12-14 under. maybe some tracks already do this. idk. I just hope to see that change. I think some of these tracks in the metro areas (esp I-44) need to do multiple free admission nights - but furthermore find a way to advertise, esp targeting the youth, specifically for these events. It would help to do this for specials - so that they see something of higher quality and then come back. The popular promoter logic has been vividly against this notion - but I also think the writing is on the wall. There are not big profits being made off the grandstand......so really it's low risk/high potential reward.

enough rambling lol. I just hope we have a good racing season - I hope teams and fans alike participate in events as much as they possibly can.
