With a heavy sad heart I post the news of our good friend and fellow sprint car owner Davey Tabor's passing
Davey passed away tonight at the U of M hospital after complications of pneumonia and heart failure. His health has deteriiorated over the passed few years.
Born Nov.21 1951 Davey served in the military in Viet Nam , learned to tig weld ,and became the most accomplished welder I have ever seen. We became friends in1985 and were pals to the end. Many good drivers wheeled the 34 TW including my brother Jim and the infamous Roger Rager. Tim Johnson, Brad Barickman, Jason Tostenson, Alan Gilbertson, Ron Eriickson, Jack Zweber, and Greg Gunderson. I know ther are a few more so please add your name. Please put Margret and the Tabor family in your prayers. We will miss him and I will always remember him. Funeral arrangements pending and I will post them as soon as I receive any information.
God Speed Davey,
Kouba Family Racing

So sorry to hear the news. I will always be thankful for the opportunity Dave and Margaret gave me to drive their car. They treated me as if I were part of their family and put everything they had into getting to the track every weekend. Nobody wanted to be at the race track more than Dave. Godspeed Dave!

March 17th is not St. Patrick Day to me anymore. March 17th is and will always be the day to remember both my late grandpa and Dave as they both died on March 17.
My heart broke when I learned about my former car owner, Dave Tabor passed away. He and his wife Margaret were the GREATEST sprint car owners that I enjoyed driving for them. They had greatest passion for the sprint car racing. They also believed in what I can do and gave me their full support and encouragement.
Dave, life was way too short but you now are no longer suffering with your health. We love you and will miss you! Rest in Peace. Margaret and his family are in my thoughts and prayers. Greg Gunderson

I got to spend quite a bit of "windshield time" with Davey when I first started helping Joe Kouba back in the day. We had a lot of fun racing around with Joe back then and always looked forward to seeing and visiting with him when our paths crossed at the track after I started driving and he and Margaret became owners. A lot of people probably didn't know how good of a welder he was either. Rest in peace friend. Margaret, you have a lot of people thinking about you and Davey's family.
