Four Divisions Race This Friday Night at Silver Dollar Speeway

The 2007 Feather Falls Casino / Hoosier Race Tire / Coors point championship season continues this Friday night, June 15, at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. Four racing divisions including the dirt modifieds, pure stocks, dwarf cars and wingless sprints will compete during point's race number 11. The four divisions will all compete in heat races and main events.

Front grandstand gate will open at 6 pm. Racing is slated to start at 7 pm. Adult general grandstand admission is $10.00. Juniors and seniors are $8.00 while children are $4.00.

Chico's Richard Papenhausen leads the dirt modified point standings. Yet, the hottest driver in the division is The Rocket Man Mark Abouzeid. The Chico Volkswagen owner has won the previous two main events in a row. Putting on his helmet and racing at the speedway relieves the stress of owning the dealership. "No one can touch me once I put my helmet on," said Abouzeid. Darin Ruley is right in the middle of Papenhausen and Abouzeid in the point standings. Ruley has been a very consistent driver this year. Chico's Chris Compton and Randy McDaniel round out the top five.

The most exciting point battle of the year is revolving around the pure stock division. Heather Bartlett of Chico has dominated the racing at the speedway until this previous weekend. Bartlett finished second in her heat race but was not able to start the main event because of mechanical issues. Because she did not take the green flag she earned no championship points for the main event. This dropped her to third in the standings. Moving back into the top spot it was Jeff Olschowka. Even though he didn't finish the race, he still finished in the top ten and earned valuable points. Mike Slightom also moved into the second spot and is now only seven points behind Olschowka. Jay Galvin and Jeremy Stone rounded the top five in points.

Another serious point battle is developing in the wingless sprint division. Early leader Billy Wallace of Grass Valley was running away with the championship. But he, like Bartlett, suffered mechanical problems that dropped him in the point standings. Wallace has three wins, the most, but now is fourth in the point standings. The new leader is Jay Youngman of Grass Valley. He leads rookie Brandon Davis of Rohnert Park by just five points. Tracey driver Matt Streeter sits in the third spot and has two main event wins for the Orth owned #24. Cody Myers is in the fifth spot and having an impressive run for a rookie driver.

Joining the racing action will be the traveling Dwarf Car division. You can visit their site for more information at http://www.dwarfworld.com/. Michael Grenert leads Kevin Bender by more than 100 points. Grenert has four wins while Bender has three.
