In yet another blow to the anti diversity crowd something totally totally different will be coming to the track soon, real soon....
I have to agree that the April WDRL show was not the best but don't let that stop you from coming back cause the Sept race is very very good.....

Dang, I am the least likely supporter of Late Model racing on this board but I found the April show there to be a very good one. Some guy came from way back in the B and then came from in the 20's to lead the A only to get taken out, he was worth the admission all by himself. I don't know what will happen there but Knoxville will always be the Home of Sprint car racing in my books and in my many years travelling around the country it was the place that most people wanted to talk about or attend. Take It Easy.....

Two man cruiser nationals? 300 lap wildthing (hornet) race? That would be awesome.

I wouldn't show up to watch a 300 lap Hornet race but I might try to find a car to race in it!

They are bringing back the bus rides and dumpster races but they will be held ON the track and will be classified as a racing event so the local police can't interfere. J.D. Cormack still at the helm.

I myself miss the bus ride and the Dumpster races, but the overzelious clowns with a badge tok that away when Corperate America was allowed to overthrow the Fairboard.
Damn I miss them, Karl KInser was a heck of a driver in his day!!!

I heard this past weekend that Bruce N was gone. Pretty reliable source so I'm surprised no one else here has mentioned it. The Friday races also run into the Iowa law problem. I swear there must be a law that states if you go out Friday night, you can't go out Saturday. Would be just too darn wild. Or maybe it's two nights in a row. But, seriously, with the cost of gas and admissions nowdays it's going to get tougher to get folks out for two nights a weekend. You can also argue that attendance at the 360 Nats and other Friday shows has been terrible for years. Face it, Knoxville is a Saturday night, 410 sprint place. It will take some real innovations to get that mindset changed. Just some disconnected ramblings of a fool so please forgive.

Just a thought...When the WoO comes in town for a sprint car event, why not run a rgular Saturday night 410/360 show on Friday? Then run WoO and 305's on Saturday night? This would give the locals a night when they can make some good money without losing a night of points racing. Then, those that wish, without penalty of losing show-up points, can race on Saturday with the WoO. It's also good for local fans and traveling fans as everyone gets to see their favorites compete.
I'm far from convinced the Late Models or whatever other "special" classes will work at Knoxville.

Best idea yet. I hope knoxville reads this and takes it to heart.

I have my doubts that LM's will catch on among the regular Knoxville crowd, but there are many more LM fans within a 4 hour drive than sprint fans. Every single LM person I ever talked to was impressed enough with the place that it got put on a very short list of "must attend" races. It's gonna start snowballing soon.....I predict that it will be 3-5 years before they start opening up the backstretch for the Oct LM show. (or the year NASCAR decides that the Kansas City Nextel Cup race needs shifted slightly in the schedule...whichever comes first)

So this whole thread is because you believe that the TWO Friday night LM shows are replacing a sprint show? I thought those two day WoO sprint shows were dead...like you said before nobody attends races in Knoxville on a Friday night.
It's great that you are getting out next year....you will enjoy it and learn to appreciate home that much more.

I'm for split shows like most places have, mods, bombers, stocks, with sprints as a support race.....Ya at least get the best and worst of both worlds...Knoxville does have to pit space, the 410's of the front row, the 360's in back and the other 3 classes in the middle... I'll bet that would bring in the crowd, and the track knows from past experience that the door banger crowd can drink some beer....
