Jason Statler rebounds for solid finish at Petaluma Speedway

By Gary Thomas

Petaluma, CA - June 10, 2007...Former King of California Jason Statler is back on track following a fourth place finish Saturday night at the Petaluma Speedway. The 3/8 mile clay oval was prepared to perfection as multiple racing grooves were seen throughout the night and Jason diced it up with multiple competitors as he navigated through traffic in the feature.

The weekend began on Friday evening as the battle for the Silver Dollar Speedway track championship resumed. This season has seen Jason run all the races at the Chico bullring as he contends for his first career track championship at the Silver Dollar Speedway. He started off the night by getting a great qualifying lap and placing the Tom Rolfe Trucking, DF Rios Construction, Pheasant Run Shopping Center No. 10 third quick overall. Jason then transferred through his heat race and started the feature from the seventh position. As Jason was motoring on in the 25 lap main event, some mud got into the engine and knocked him out of contention on lap 14. It was a weird deal and he parked in the infield for the remainder of the race.

On Saturday Jason and the team looked to rid the bad luck of the last couple races as Petaluma Speedway hosted the Golden State Challenge Series. Jason qualified solidly in the top eight and transferred through the heat race to put the Hansen Machine, Yak Graphics, Northgate Rock, Stephanie’s Custom Interiors No. 10 into the dash. "The Big Guy" finished seventh in the dash to put the No. 10 Tom Rolfe Trucking Special in the fourth row for the 30 lap feature.

Jason battled around the top five for much of the race and as the laps wound down he was part of a great three car battle with Sean Becker and Willie Croft. The trio swapped positions on multiple occasions and when the final caution of the race came out on lap 23 Jason was sitting in fifth place. After going back green he stayed in fifth and when Brent Kaeding slowed with a few laps left he was able to get around the 69 machine as traffic came into play. When the checkered flag flew the Platinum Powder Coating, T-5 Industries, BR Motorsports, Trimble Motorsports No. 10 sat in fourth place. It was good run and thanks to great track conditions it made for some of the best racing this season.

Jason and the Tom Rolfe Racing team will be right back in action on Monday night at the Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford as the Golden State Challenge Series competes at the 1/3 mile dirt oval. After that the team will be taking part in the 36th annual Dirt Cup at the Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash. The event kicks off on Thursday night and runs through Saturday. The winner of Saturday night’s 40 lap main event will pocket a cool $25,000.
