BRAINERD, MINNESOTA (February 5) – North Central Speedway has 21 race events on the schedule for 2012 and will feature a new event over Memorial Day Weekend, the return of the AMA Outlaw Stars Race and the 11th Annual Mighty Ax Nationals, but first the season starts off with several practice sessions before opener on April 28.
One of the biggest changes is we will run the Pure Stock and Hornet heat races from 5-6:30pm so we can run the program in a more timely manor. The regular start will still be at 6:45pm, pit gates will open at 3:30 and the Grandstands at 5. There is also an addition with the WISSOTA Mod Fours on a weekly basis. It is very important that the drivers read through the new rule book before racing at North Central Speedway which can be found on the new website.
Memorial Day weekend will feature a new event the WWE which will be a two complete shows. The purse for the overall weekend will be higher, but each class on one of the days will race a "Featured Race." Day 1 the Super Stocks will race for $1000 and the Mod Fours will race for $500 and on Day 2 the Modifieds and Midwest Modifieds will race for a $1000, the Streets for $500. Winners for this event will receive a true leather Championship Belt.
June 9 will mark the annual Kids Night featuring the UMSS Sprints. Right now over 50 bikes will be given away for Kids Night. The Outlaw stars of the AMA Pro will make a visit on Thursday June 28 this will go along with the Minnesota hog rally. That will feature the Expert Twins, Pro Singles, and Vintage all racing for the Wild Bill's Outlaw Chase. As always the season will close with the 11th Annual Mighty Axe Nationals. The best Sprint Car drivers in the Upper Midwest will also be on hand as the UMSS Sprint Car Series will race both days and new to the lineup will be the RV Advantage Mod Series where WISSOTA Modifieds from all over will journey with their families to try and win one of those magical golden axes.
