There was an article in the Tulsa World today that said they might stop racing horses on the fairgrounds race track that used to be the best facilty in this area for dirt track racing. They don't have enough money to rebuild the stands and up date the rest of the track. Wouldn't it be nice if somebody could get a lease and shorten the track and bank it and run weekly sprint races there. I know that it could not be like the track used to be because it would be to fast but if it was shortned to about 1/3 to 4/10 and banked it would be slower and safer. The USAC champ cars were not very good sevral years ago but the track was all wrong for cars. It started out for race cars it should go back to them. I kow I am just dreaming, the fairboard will not let this happen. They wouldn't let Emmett run the mini sprints at the old baseball field when it closed 2 years ago because it was too noisy so they sure wil not let sprints run there but cars ran at the faigrounds for years and I think that they stll should be able to race there.

Hold races on a dirt track in the middle of a town? Really? In 2012?

Made a lap around the track with Larry Dewell when in Tulsa for the Chili Bowl. Sad that another part of OK racing history is about to be destroyed.

Thats about what I think also but man that was such a great track for the racers and fans. I am sure the fairboard would not allow racing there butt hey do some stupid things. They closed down Bells Amusement Park,it had been there about 60 years, and when the baseball team wanted a new stadium they did not try to get them to build it at the fairgrounds. The water park was way behind on their bills a couple of years ago but they let them stay. The company that owns the water park gave a campaign contribution to the county commish that was head of the fairboard. When she ran for re-election she only got 18% of the vote. This was all on the local news so I guess they can't sue me. I am getting away from racing so I will stop

Kind of like Paul M. , doubtful of it happening but give it a better chance than OKC ever would,at least the Tulsa Mayor gets it about Racing, you can see that at the Chili Bowl each Jan. , to bad they would not give it a chance again , think it would be a success and take off but with all the negativity from area neighborhoods would never get a chance to get it even close to being a reality.could see some really BIG Races/Shows at the venue. JD you are right it probaly will not let it happen. Last year when Emmett wanted to run the minis at the baseball track they had a car run insde the ballpark and took noise readings at several distances and said it was to loud. I doubt they would let the champ cars run like they did a few years ago again. There are some people who live around the fairgrounds and they gripe every year about the Chilli Bowl and how they should cancel but it is so big they can't. The fargrounds was there when almost all the people moved into the area so they should not gripe. I will get off my soap box now.

Warren how are you doing?

Ya know I just find it quite funny how some still think the closing down of the 1/2 mile at OKC was what really started the demise of SFS, seen it posted recently , closing the 1/2 mile was for economic reasons, expensive to run the 1/2 mile weekly and with weekly pay of todays racing not really a good thing.

1/2 mile was great for Speed and that was it,the racing was ok at times, but most of the time in it's last 5 or so years of it's existnece it was the Have's and Have Not's with $$$$ and it takes a lot's of $$$$ to run it weekly.

I liked the WoO when they run the 1/2 mile at SFS, put on a good show because all of them competeing are of the "Have's" in this sport , all got $$$ and can be competitive on them.

Just find it funny how some still believe that closing down the 1/2 mile was why SFS eventually shut down.

Lets all right in Emmitt Hahn for President,, then maybe we can have a race track in every town again like the old days...His first order of bussnes would be all fairgrouds will have Race Tracks. He made it work in Tulsa why not everywhere else..Realy i would Vote for Emmitt before the rest of them i have seen out there. At least what he does works.

I think they should make all the Senetors and Congressman,,and the President wear racing uniforms with all there Sponsers on them so we know who is backing them and giving them money.

Just a brain fart for the day....

Win as if you are use to it.And lose as if you enjoyed
it for a change. Its hard to get to the top and alot
harder to stay there.
