Reports out of Tulsa say that Donnie Ray Crawford and his mother were shot with Donnie fatally, by his grandfather (not Ray). The racing community and others have lost a very, very nice young man.

Thoughts and prayers go out to all family and friends.

Just freaking unbelievable and unfair.

WAGONER COUNTY, Oklahoma -

Emergency crews are responding to the scene of a shooting that left two people dead in Wagoner County.

Law enforcement officials tell the News On 6 that an older man and a man in his mid 20s are dead. They say the shooting was the result of a domestic incident.

Crews were called to the scene at about 9:30 a.m. in the 3700 block of South 273rd East Avenue. The call initially went to Broken Arrow emergency dispatchers, but the area is outside the police department's jurisdiction.

An adult woman was shot in the hip and has been taken to the hospital.

She was conscious and able to talk to emergency crews, calling out "I don't want to lose my son," according to News On 6 photojournalist Bill Aycock.

Wagoner County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shootings. They are notifying family members and have not released names of the victims.

I just saw him last night at the Chilli Bowl, seemed like a great guy. Thoughts and prayers to his friends and family, I really enjoyed everytime I got to see him race. Truly a huge loss and a very dark day for the racing community.

Can I change my name to ModifiedFanRob?

I am so sad to hear this news today, my heart goes out to the family at this time. I was very fortunate to have met Donnie Ray several times over my period in Tulsa, I was shy around the drivers, but Donnie Ray always ALWAYS smiled and when speaking with the person I was with he would always make me feel like I was included. He truly was a special young man that will be greatly missed. You are now in the arms of the lord and you have real wings now. RIP Donnie Ray.

The experiences I've had with Donnie Ray parallel what most everyone else has already mentioned: extremely friendly, honorable, respectful; and in a race car, a true natural.

When the 55 team arrived at the track, he'd always have a smile on his face when he came up to the pit window, and we were glad he was there to race with us.

May peace be with the Crawford family, and the the racing community, at this difficult time.

Truly one of the good guys. What a shame. Won't be the same without him. God Speed, DRC!
