Streeter runs first SCRA 360 race

By Gary Thomas

Hanford, CA - June 6, 2007...Matt Streeter’s very first race with the SCRA 360 Series didn’t last as long as he would have hoped, but it was a good experience for him and he’ll be ready to go the next time he gets to run the injected sprinter. His first night running with SCRA came at Hanford’s Kings Speedway, the same track he won a USAC Western States Midget race at a few weeks back.

Matt began the night by qualifying third quick aboard the Matt Streeter Racing Inc. No. 35jr. He then finished fourth in his heat race to put himself into the six lap passing masters dash. The Lathrop driver was running in third place in the dash when another spun and left him nowhere to go. Matt hit the car and suffered front end and nerf bar damage, but the crew was able to get the damage fixed in time to push out for the feature. Matt had a fast sprint car in the main event, but on lap four he coasted to a stop in turn three with engine issues. After assessing the problem, it was decided to call it a night to not risk further damage to the engine.

The night didn’t go how everyone had planned, but you can bet that it will make Matt more determined the next time he runs with SCRA. We'd like to thank all our sponsors for making this season possible including: Delta Demo, T & T Trucking, V & F Podesta farms, 4-M's construction, Troy’s Body & Paint, Gowen Construction, Eloy Coyote Racing, Orth Family Racing, M & S Race Engines and Mike Maxwell.

Matt Streeter will be taking this weekend off, but will be back in action the following Friday at Chico’s Silver Dollar Speedway as he gets back behind the wheel of the Orth Family Racing No. 24. Matt and Orth Family Racing picked up a win last time out in Chico and go into the race on June 15, third in points.
