Texas World Dirt Track Championship Registration Now Open!

Ft. Worth TX (1/4/2012) by DarinShort.com. It is the off season, but action at the Dirt Track at Texas Motor Speedway continues, as six inches of new dirt are being added to the racing surface. And today, online registration opens for the Texas World Dirt Track Championship which hits the new dirt March 2-3, 2012. 241 race teams participated in 2011.

By clicking http://www.darinshort.com/world.html all competing race teams can take advantage of this online registration convenience. At this special registration page, there is a link for each race division to preregister their team, purchase advance 2-day pit passes (saves $10), reserve a paved pit space (while supplies last) and sign up for practice night.

Registration this year is slightly different, so registrants are urged to follow the directions closely when entering their team information.

Teams can pay using any major credit or debit card and all transactions are secured through PayPal, an eBay company that has soared to over 153 million active accounts. You can make multiple purchases on the registration section within the same transaction, which will save you time and typing. When you are on the registration page, continue to select ‘add to cart’ items until you are finished and a separate window will contain the items you have selected. You can also edit the invoice before you make your final purchase. You do not have to be a PayPal member to use this service.

Printable event schedules, rules and more can also be found at the link listed above. If you would prefer to enter by mail, there is an event flyer at the above link that you can print, fill out and mail in your payment.

For those not familiar with the TMS layout, there is also a link to a map of the property.

Modified and Limited Modified drivers will have two provisionals added to their championship features – but they will be drawn from pre-entered drivers, so don't miss out on this second chance! Early registration ends on February 17th, 2012.

If you need racing parts, fuel or Hoosier tires for this event, you should contact http://www.SmileysRacing.com as they will be on hand to keep racers on track at this event. If you place your order ahead of time, they will deliver it to the track, thus saving shipping expense.

Also note that there is an update to the Limited Modified rules. All Limited Modifieds must declare whether they are 2011 or 2012 IMCA Southern Sport Mod rules compliant when they go through tech on Friday. No mix and match of these rules. Stickers will be affixed to cars when they go through tech on Friday.

Race fans can purchase grandstand tickets to this great weekend of racing for just $10 on Friday and $15 on Saturday. Tickets go on sale Friday January 13th at http://www.TexasMotorSpeedway.com . There is no charge for grandstand parking and outside food/drinks are not allowed through the ticket gates. Hot laps are 5pm on Friday (races at 6pm) and races are at 6pm on Saturday. There is also a practice night scheduled in Thursday March 1st at 6pm, however the main grandstand is closed.

Join us as the 2012 racing season kicks off at the Texas World Dirt Track Championship at Texas Motor Speedway’s Dirt Track, and you’ll enjoy a weekend of great racing action at family-affordable prices!

Shortly after registration opened today, the first official entry had been filed by Longview Texas racer, Tyler Townsend, in the modified division.

The 19-year-old driver has taken a real liking to the fast 4/10 mile track at Texas Motor Speedway. He won the pole dash at last fall's U.S. Dirt Track Championship, eventually finishing in 8th place after suffering suspension damage during the feature race.

For more information about the Big Texas Auto Parts & RacersGarageSale.com sponsored driver, visit his website at www.tyler12.com and to get your team registered, click www.darinshort.com/world.html and in a few clicks, you'll be ready for a weekend of great racing action at the Texas World Dirt Track Championship!

And all of this rain will certainly help the 6" of fresh dirt that was added to the racing surface a few weeks back!

2/13/12 EVENT UPDATE:

Drivers from across the south and midwest have entered the Port-A-Cool® Texas World Dirt Track Championship.

As of today, there are less than 25 reserved parking spots remaining, so if you are needing one for your race team, you are urged to register as soon as possible.

This coming Friday, February 17th, is the final day you can mail in your event registration and be considered an early entry - which entitles you to be eligible for the two provisional starting positions in the modifieds (pays $750 to start) and limited modifieds (pays $400 to start).

And with the off season dirt work completed, the track looks great, and it is ready to race on right now.

Please click www.darinshort.com/world.html to get your team registered or for more information. And thank you to the teams that have already gotten pre-entered, which helps everyone on race weekend.

FRIDAY, FEB. 17 UPDATE:

Today is the final day you can mail in your registration to this event and be considered an 'early entry.'

Online early registration continues throughout the rest of the weekend, at:

www.darinshort.com/world.html

As a reminder, entries filed after the above deadlines will be at 'race week' entry prices and are not eligible for the provisional starter bonuses in the Modified and Limited Modified divisions.

There are now less than 15 paved reserved parking spaces available at the time of this writing, which is 10AM on Friday, February 17. So if your team needs one, they are going fast.

And race fans, make sure to snag your tickets to this event the next time you are at an O'Reilly Auto Parts store in the DFW area - and save $5/adult ticket purchased for each night!

Hey Darin,

How about posting a list of the pre-entries? Or at least the car count.

Sorry, but it's TMS's policy to not release that information until race weekend. Otherwise I'd have it posted here for you to view.

But with paved spots just about exhausted, you can expect another great field of cars.

If I have anything official that I can pass along in the next two weeks, be assured I'll post it here.

There has been no plan for internet coverage at the spring event. But I can tell you that there will be live line-ups and results on SpeedNetDirect...as last year. Rebel will be posting updates throughout the night and you can catch those on the ElbowsUp modified forum on race nights.

RacinBoys will be at the September TMS event as the Lucas Oil sprint cars will join the modifieds and limited modifieds. They will provide live audio then, and most likely tape-delayed video coverage.

Thanks for your questions guys.

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 20th EVENT UPDATES:
THANK YOU to all of the drivers who have registered early for the March 2-3 Port-A-Cool® Texas World Dirt Track Championship!

Early registration is now closed, and those drivers already registered are eligible for the provisional starter drawings in both the Modified and Limited Modified divisions.

'Race week' pricing entries are now available online at www.darinshort.com/world.html in all three divisions through this coming weekend, February 26th.

After that date, all online registration sales will end.

For those not entered at that point, you still can enter your car at the pit gate when you arrive. But it is best to get your team entered, as it helps keep the track organized as best as possible - especially for the track workers entering in your transponder information.

And race fans, for a complete listing of O'Reilly Auto Parts locations to purchase your discounted tickets, please visit: www.darinshort.com/worldtix.html and click the flashing "$5 off" text.

Thanks again and see you all next weekend at the Port-A-Cool® Texas World Dirt Track Championship!

Here is a smart phone/web link to the live line-ups and finishes for the Port-A-Cool® World Dirt Track Championship tonight and tomorrow night:

http://speednetdirect.com/mobile/mobilelineup.php?tid=8199

This is really helpful if you're in the pits, the stands...or just an inquiring race fan from across the globe!

It will be activated after the draw this afternoon, which should be by 5 or 5:30pm CST...first race at 6pm

IMPORTANT NOTE: some forums 'shrink' the actual, full link with "..." if you see that in your web browser while viewing this forum post, do not copy it, you must click it, then you can copy the full link from your URL bar of the web browser.

BTW, 145 cars took the track for practice last night, with more expected for tonight; plus the SUPR LM's that will roll in on Saturday for their race.
