Would it not make a lot more sense to go with the Hoosier Medium 105 x 16 x 15 Right Rear used by almost every other sprint car series in CA & AZ?
Seems like it would be a lot cheaper to run one tire on all sprint cars out west and it might even things up a little bit between the 360's and 410's on the smaller tracks.
An pro's or con's on this?

New-Parts there are pros and cons to this. The HT2 is similar to the RC1 that everybody used to run which was an 18" tire and softer compound. The DT-3 was brought out to try and save money which it did not. The tires would always seal over and cause problems. You still go through a right rear every night and the HT2 tire is supposed to be a little cheaper according to Hoosier. The 360 guys can still run their local tires on all four corners. Now it gives them an option so they can run their tires or the HT-2. The problem with a 16" tire is it makes the cars less stable. Think about it? If you run a 18" tire or a 16" tire what will be more stable. When you get on a big track like Manzy was or even Calistoga what tire would you like to have on with a 410 under the hood? Many of the drivers loved the RC-1 for that reason and have never liked the DT-3 because of this. If the guys went to the 16" ASCS Tire they would not be compatible when the national guys come out for the West Coast swing. Also if anybody would want to run speedweek now you have to by tires and run on something you have never ran which would cause a total disadvantage for the West Coast guys during the big races as they would be starting from scratch. The USAC Western Series already runs this tire so it helps them when the CRA runs up north with them. It has its ups and downs but in reality it's a plus going back to a bigger tire as it's safer to run and more stable. Yes the speeds will increase a hair but it will be be a safer tire to run on.

The ht2 will be a good 410 tire. plus most of us run an 18 inch wide wheel. we would have to buy narrower rr wheels or outer 1/2s and mix and match to get offset.

There's really two different tire programs on the West Coast (not counting King of the West)

NorCal Winged Sprints and USAC Western - HTW 18"

ASCS / USAC West Coast 360 / VRA - Hoosier 16"

So it's really just a matter of who you want to align yourself with. 11 of the CRA races are with series that run the HTW and 11 are CRA standalone. With USAC National running the HTW I think CRA had an easy choice to make.
