Would you believe that the guy that stole the engine at Newton decided to sell 410 engine by selling indivual part seperate. He could not figure out how to take valves out so he cut springs with a cutting torch. It just goes to show you that mankind can solve any probem if he just puts his brain to work.

had someone steal the engine and transmission for my 1969 AMC javelin. put them in his car and never changed the aftermarket valve covers where I put the engine ID tags. then asked my brother inlaw to adjust the roller rockers. these kind of people are just stupid!

Not to split hairs .... but Carl told some friends that he (Sabin) actually used a torch to cut the springs off to get to the head stud nuts that require a special socket (due to valve stem repositioning) to remove the heads.

Either way ...the freakin moron (Sabin) posted a midget engine for sale with his Newton Iowa contact info .....last I knew ....Newton wasn't the exactly a hot-bed of midget racing and the owner (not Carl, but Carl was watching too) kept checking various race parts for sale websites and solved the theft (contacting the Newton P.D. with Sabin's name and address)... NOT the 'brilliant' Newton police as the newspaper articles would leave you to believe.
