To keep the background story short I'm an engineering student paying for school out of pocket so paying a builder $7,500-$10,000 for an engine is out of the question. This will be my first season in a sprint car and we are under racesaver rules. I have built or been involved with building all the engines used in my sportmod for the past 6 years so I'm not coming in completely blind. I was just looking for any deviation from assembling the bottom end for a 2400lb modified vs the 1500lb sprint car? We have a couple different cores to choose from, which block casting has an advantage over the other, if any? What would you recommend for cam, crank, rods and the injection? I love being involved with every aspect of my racing program so please see where I'm coming from guys. I'm not after any speed secrets or magic snake oil. I just want to assemble a solid bottom end that will last me through a 25-30 race season and get the most reliable injection system. Thanks for any help and PM me if you don't want to post public.

when you use a 350 head on a 305 block you have to grind out a little notch so intake and exhaust do not hit top of block. Put head on bare block and look at it thru the crank area and you will see. You should be able to buy a good HILBORN INJECTOR AT A GOOD PRICE. SAME WITH MAG. AND FEUL PUMP. ALL OF THESE HAVE TO BE CHECKED OUT OR REFRESHED. YOU NEED TO PUT WINDAGE TRAY IN PAN AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT CAN HELP CONTROL THE OIL. i WOULD ALSO ADVISE YOU TO PUT ACCUSUMP ON it WE DID NOT AND BLEW MOTOR UP.
