Kyle Busch Led NASCAR Drivers in Securing TV Exposure for Sponsors: #18-Kyle Busch's memorable 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series campaign led to $68 million of television exposure for his sponsors, a figure higher than any other driver managed to generate this past season, and nearly $1.7 million more than Series Champion Tony Stewart. According to research conducted by Joyce Julius & Associates, Inc. which has monitored every NASCAR race telecast over the last 27 seasons Busch's sponsors as a group appeared for 27 hours, 23 minutes, 10 seconds (27:23:10) during live and replayed telecasts of the season's 36 points races. When also factoring in verbal mentions (292) of Busch's sponsors, the 12th-place driver amassed more than $68.3 million of in-broadcast exposure value for his backing brands.
Joyce Julius calculates television exposure value by comparing the in-broadcast visual and verbal exposure to the estimated cost of a national commercial during the telecast and applying Joyce Julius Recognition Grading which takes into account such factors as size and placement of the image on screen, as well as brand clutter and integration of the brand into the activity. While Busch hung on to lead the driver exposure battle wire-to-wire, Stewart's stellar run during this year's Chase may be more impressive, as the newly crowned champion moved up from 9th to 2nd in cumulative sponsor brand exposure, improving from $30 million at the start of the final 10 races to $66.7 million by season's end. Stewart's dominance during the Chase race broadcasts is further evidenced by the attention paid to him by the TV announcers. Stewart began the Chase 6th in individual driver mentions, but ended the season on top, collecting 57% of his driver mentions for the entire season during the final 10 races. Stewart also amassed the most interview time of any driver, appearing on camera for more than one hour, 20 minutes throughout 2011. Series points runner-up Carl Edwards managed to accrue the most mentions for his sponsors (610), while he was also interviewed most frequently (75 times) of any other driver. Not surprisingly, Stewart was the top exposure-gathering Chevrolet driver, collecting $6.3 for the auto brand. Edwards led the Ford drivers, delivering $8.1 million of in-broadcast exposure, while the attention Busch drew during 2011 race broadcasts led to $11.9 million for Toyota.(Joyce Julius & Associates)(12-6-2011)

If you care to remember Kyle ran 9nd his first time out in a truck at PIR, and he was leading at Chicago with 12 laps to go, when he ran out of gas. He was then the fastest at California in practise when they pulled him out of the Truck for being only 16... Winston was one of the sponsors, and it was a rule that no one under 18 could run under a cigarette sponsored banner. NASCAR invoked that same rule 3 weeks later for their whole series, and every race. Can you imagine what his stats would be if he'd ran with NASCAR those 2 years, instead of with the ASA?

Maybe so but some people like reality shows so maybe that explains it. I find it odd that idiots like him and his brother find top quality rides and guys like Blaney and Yeley struggle. People are more interested in the drama and the he said she said than the racing.

Kyle has a ton of talent. He took over the exact ride that JJ had at Gibbs and has been a consistent top 10 driver. Dave had a year with RCR and could never duplicate the results of Kyle.
I love Dave and JJ, but you have to give Kyle the props he deserves. He is a great talent.
Almost everybody gets on this board and complains about rent-a-ride programs and drivers only getting rides if they bring sponsors or Daddy's checkbook. The argument is that the most talented drivers should be getting the rides. This is why I like Kyle. He is was of the most talented drivers in NASCAR.
Is he the driver that I want to go hang out with after the races? no. Is he the driver that I want to pay to watch because of his talent and desire. YES. He hates to lose more than anyone else on tour.

when was the last time j. gordon or jimmie ran a truck or a nationwide race?
the statement that i was responding to was stating that kyle was a big fish in a small pond, meaning he was a cup driver running in some lower level races. it also seemed to say he was only winning because of motors and crew. it seemed to say the wins were due to motors and crew and disregard any driver talent.
i just wanted to know if the poster would include austin dillon, who has the backing of RCR in the truck races, kevin harvick who has the backing of RCR in truck races and nationwide races and carl edwards who has the backing of roush in nationwide races in that same catagory.
i guess if you felt it was all motors and crew you could include tony stewart as when he runs in the nationwide series he has run for kevin harvick who has the backing of RCR.
again i ask when was the last time gordon or johnson ran a truck or nationwide car and won?
my point was that it was ridiculous to insinuate that kyle was winning in the lesser level races only because he had the best motors and crew. if someone was going to make that statement, they it could be applied to other drivers as well.
for a lawyer you sure don't see beneath the surface very well.

I agree 100%. It does not hurt to have all the best equipment, but you still have to DRIVE it. I personally cannot stand either one of the Busch Bros., but one of them sure can drive. I hated saying that.

i don't know if you are replying to me, but if you are i never said kyle was or wasn't a big fish.
i just asked if you would apply your statement to the others mentioned as they run trucks and nationwide and win and have the best stuff too. you seemed to be saying kyle won because he had the best stuff.
so i will ask again. do dillon and harvick and edwards only win in the trucks and nationwide because they have the best motors and crews?
