I currently have 2 cars that are avaliable for rent for this years Chili Bowl! Both cars are Spike/Mopar's. They have good equipment that has won multiple races this year out west. Both cars Have Advance cockpit adjustable (rebound) shocks on all 4 corners. None of this equipment is junk. Each car is $6,000 + any damages. That price may be negotiated if needed. but i will NOT take any sort of trades to drive another car. They are the Black & Yellow #35's from california. Between the 2 cars this year there are 10 races, 4wins, and all top-5's!

We will provide a driver complete with $6000 worth of safety gear and assume all personal injury liabilities including but not limited to broken limbs, head trauma, ridicule from car owner for not winning the event, and all future earnings and quality of life should the unthinkable happen due to his or others mistakes.
What are you as the car owner, and any other buy-a-ride franchises, willing to risk?
Need a resume for the driver?

The Chilli Bowl must be becoming to big for it's britches. $6,000? Really? In the not to distant future this event will be like Indy Car racing. But, that is the nature of motor racing I suppose.

6,000 isn't an outrageous price. it is actually fairly common for the equipment that i am offering. Also it comes with 2 crew chiefs.

I can't speak for anyone else, but what you charge for your rentals can only be based on what the market is. Whether or not I agree with the market price is not MY issue. It's the mindset that a driver is 100% responsible for all of the cost and liabilities.
What driver sets out to crash a car?
What driver sets out to cause himself personal injury?
If the driver is incapacitated in any way, who pays for that?
If your car is incapacitated in any way, ............................
See my point?
It's not the cost of putting that race car on the track and who should pay for it that I take issue with. It's the mindset that no matter what, you and others like you, walk away with what you came with no matter what. You want to be a business owner? Assume the risk.
Just my opinion.
Merry Christmas

I guess that it just seems really high. There were cars listed for drivers here over the past couple of years that were in the $3500. to $4,000. range. Maybe $6,000. is fair for the time, but it seems to me that the Chilli Bowl is not an event that would be worth that kind of investment when you consider that 50+ cars are tipped over and torn up a year and by the end of this rental it could cost a guy well into the $10,000 number depending upon what was broken. And if you actually won the race "Not likely", but if you did, the payout would be nominal. This does not seem to be a good investment for a no name driver. But good luck to you, I really hope your cars win the Bowl, that would be awesome. (And that was NOT sarcasm)

As far as the market goes this is a very reasonable price. Call and quote a car from the Clauson or Kruesman stable if you want to see how high some of them are going for. Lets just say 6 grand would have you about 75% of the way there.
The cars that go for 3-4K are typically 6-12 year old chassis with major components around that same age and engine packages that have been around for 10-20 years. Or they are slightly newer but located fairly close to Oklahoma.
An owner has to have some sort of crash responsibility clause. Too many people would go in there with a "win it or wear it" mentality if they had no financial motivation to take care of the car. Many drivers, especially rookies, can and will get caught up in all the hype and drama that surrounds an event this big and lose focus even if they are trying to drive sensibly.
If a driver goes in there with his own car and tears the hell out of it it will be on his shoulders to either pay to fix it or be out of the sport all together. Why shouldn't that driver have the same responsibility with somebody elses car?
As for risk...every driver assumes that risk every time they strap in and they know it. That's why you don't see drivers suing their car owner when they get hurt.
As for risk to a rent-a-ride owner...they still have plenty...especially one from the West Coast or that far away from Tulsa. What if the rig gets stolen or broken into at a motel somewhere in Nevada. What if an Ice Storm causes road conditions that cause the rig to be crashed hard. What if the owner goes home with a car that somebody did get hurt in? And has to remember that every time he walks into the shop and sees it. What if the drivers wife comes after him with a lawsuit? It goes on and on and on.
With the Chili bowl being such a special event there will always be people lined up wanting to do it that don't own a midget. And you would be amazed if you knew how many drivers do have to rent a ride for the event..some big name marquee guys. World of outlaw feature winners, Usac winners, etc. There are only a small handfull of Multi Car teams that actually hire drivers for their 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th cars..Other than Loyet I would bet all the multi car teams have at least one driver thats paying for his ride in thier stable. Loyet puts guys in his cars that he feels have a legitimate shot at winning the deal...he wants that driller bad enough to field 6 cars to try to get it. Most of the other teams fund their regular driver that they feel has a shot at it and use the rental income to cover expenses for the week. When Tim McCreadie won the thing he was in a $5,000 rental. That somewhat opened the floodgates and made it much more common and acceptable to do rentals.
I agree that the ride buying sucks. I agree that it is extreme for this race. I agree that it costs a ton to do it and it really makes no sense from a financial standpoint. But the owners that have rental rides could just as easily stay at home. Then you would only have about 100 cars at the race and many of the big names that make it so special would not be there for you to watch.

Good points threadkiller....of course they are making some money by doing the rentals or else they wouldn't go to all the trouble but theres more expense than people realize. Mr Pierovich will put 3,000 miles round trip on his rig at probably 7-8 MPG $1600 in diesel... pit passes for the crew will be $400-$600, motel for a week another 500-800..$150 worth of that "special" Chili Bowl only methanol, probably gonna have at least a $600 bill at the Hoosier trailer. $100 worth of oil/filter change for the car to run a hotlap day plus 2 race days.. 4 flights of hotlaps, 2 heat races, and at least 2 mains, possibly many more mains, means that you just used up 15%-25% of that engine freshening that costs anywhere from 2 grand to 6 grand so theres another $300-$1500 worth of engine wear and tear...even if the team eats all there meals out of a cooler in the trailer theres at least $100 in groceries for the crew....etc, etc, etc...
Of course the car owner is making some money on a rental...but nowhere near what it looks like...
Wow...I sure hope my wife doesn't see this thread...I entered the Chili Bowl last year...hahahahahaha...damn I spent a lot of money and I didn't even have to rent my ride..
