This Friday night, October 28th, the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars will make their first ever appearance at Peoria, Arizona's Canyon Speedway Park for the 2-day "Hall of Fame Classic." In 1994, the facility (then called Canyon Raceway) held two events featuring the original California Racing Association. Who were the winning drivers?

HINT: Both drivers are still active in 2011....

Good job guys... Was that too easy??

"BK" Brent Kaeding won the 1994 CRA season opener at Canyon Raceway on February 5th. Bobby Michnowicz finished second and Richard Griffin scored third in the 30-lap feature.

The same night, "The Flying Shoe" Ron Shuman claimed victory in the Sprint Car Racing Association's season opener at nearby Manzanita Speedway. 1993 CRA Champion Mike Kirby was second and "The Ripper" Rip Williams finished third.

CRA returned to Canyon on April 9th, where Bobby Michnowicz took the win followed by "The Tempe Tornado" Lealand McSpadden and Rickie Gaunt. SCRA was also in action that same night at Manzanita Speedway. Who won that event?

The following Saturday, April 16th, Bakersfield Speedway hosted two 20-lap features which proved to be the final night of action for the original California Racing Association. Who were the winning drivers at Bakersfield?

Ripper won the 4/9/94 SCRA race

Leland McSadden and Jerry Meyer won the twin 20's at Bakersfield. This was the last CRA event as the bigger teams left for the new SCRA and the overall CRA counts were low.

Jump 10 years later and the same would happen to the SCRA in their split with USAC. The biggest difference being the race teams and fans (for the most part) were mostly satisfied with the first split with the exception of loosing the "CRA" name for its prestige. The same cant be said for split #2 except the traditional fans like the "CRA" name back
