Way to go and try and kill the Belleville Midget Nationals. Good thinking between USAC and Knoxville.

I laugh at looking at the car counts of these USAC shows and they have 15-17 cars. Nice job guys.

USAC has become a shadow of its former self.

USAC is a tick (you know - the ones you find borrowed in your arm pit after a hike in the woods). Belleville got rid of the tick but not until it got to about the size of a grape and while they may be struggling at the moment - no matter what happens - they are better without the tick. I don't care at the moment how long it takes Eagle & Knoxville to remove the tick but I imagine they will eventually. If you were to draw a picture of the tick all you need is a snapshot of Kevin Miller to place where the tick's head is. Of course even without Miller at the helm and a new image to replace his on the drawing USAC is still a tick. Every day I hope I live long enough to see a world without USAC. I'm not fond of ticks, either.

Knoxville had 31 cars for its USAC Non-Wing Nationals this year. I says that's a pretty good car count for a track that's known for wings.

Why is this USAC's fault? Belleville decided to go unsanctioned a few years back and USAC has moved on running their series. Why should USAC work around Belleville? Amazing you can get over 200 midgets in Tulsa but not more than 20 show up at Belleville. Perhaps Belleville has created their own issue. JMO

Based on that comment it's clear you've never been there or at least know little of the history. USAC was justifiably kicked to the curb and is now trying to twist the knife which was predictable. Most parasites are fairly predictable actually. USAC sanctions the Chili Bowl: True or False? I'd say the folks in Tulsa have done a good job of keeping that parasite off their successful event. (oops - I just gave away the answer).

I think there are multiple reasons for Belleville losing cars.

1. The track is too big for midgets, the cars motors are screaming and the purse just doesn't justify what the teams have to spend to compete out there.

2. USAC shoots themselves in the foot (even when they did sanction Belleville) by scheduling Sprints or Silver Crown @ other venues on the same night (Belleville is not alone in USAC screwing up races, they had midgets @ Knoxville and Sprints and Silver Crown in Indiana a few years ago, all places suffered).

3. Not enough midget drivers to go around (when the purses are as pitiful as they are for USAC divisions, drivers have to compete in all 3 divisions to have a "chance" to make any money). Why travel 8 hours to a midget race if you can run a USAC Sprint Race on a Friday night and then run Saturday and Sunday in the same car at a local track within a couple hours driving distance?

As far as the Chili Bowl comment above, it's kind of laughable. Put the Chili Bowl in a weekend from June-August and let me know how many cars/drivers/fans show up. The purse isn't great (it's awesome for midgets @ $10,000 to win), but there is absolutely ZERO racing going on anywhere else in the United States when it's held, so you get drivers from other divisions of racing to "rent" cars or to drive for established midget teams boosting the car count including NASCAR SPRINT CUP, NASCAR NATIONWIDE, NASCAR TRUCKS, WORLD OF OUTLAWS SPRINTS, WORLD OF OUTLAWS LATE MODELS, IMCA MODIFIEDS, LUCAS OIL LATE MODELS, ALL STAR SPRINTS, ETC., ETC., ETC.. It might survive the first few years off of name recognition, but a Winged Sprint Car driver is not going to skip a weekend racing locally at his home track where he feels he has a chance to win to "rent" a Chili Bowl Ride for $3500 for the week and all of a sudden the Chili Bowl would be down to 25 or 30 Midgets and a LOT LESS FANS.

I like the reference to USAC being a parasite. USAC is a joke and becoming more irrelevant with each passing season.

I would like to see Belleville bring in the ASCS National boys.

The only context that the Chili Bowl comment is relevant in is that they don't sanction the race and that is no accident. It's not like they haven't tried. Do you not think that they didn't pitch the idea at some point along the way? My bet is probably more than once. My only point is that the people in charge of that race made a wise decision that USAC doesn't bring anything to the table that they need. You may think it's obvious now but the Chili Bowl wasn't always as big as it is now. It had to evolve to what it is now and decisions had to be made along the way. I'm simply stating that the one that kept USAC out of involvement in that race was a wise one. Simple as that.
