I had a wonderful time at Valley Speedway last night, just really good to be at the dirt track and watch some sprint car racing. Great race with Danny Lasoski taking the lead a couple of times with cautions re-setting him back to second; ultimately getting the lead with less than two-to-go from Wayne Johnson.

Throw in a stop at the original Arthur Bryant's for dinner on the way and it was a PERFECT way to start the weekend.

Would be interested in any other observations about the race or what is happening in general with ASCS, here is the final rundown from last night:

1. 1M-Danny Lasoski, 2. 77X-Wayne Johnson, 3. 41-Jason Johnson, 4. 775-Tim Crawley, 5. 14-Randy Martin, 6. 28-Jonathan Cornell, 7. 5M-Miranda Arnold, 8. 14K-Kyle Bellm, 9. 55-Terry McCarl, 10. 23-Seth Bergman, 11. 14T-Tony Stewart, 12. 38-Cody Baker, 13. 05-Brad Loyet, 14. 5-Matt Close, 15. 7J-J.D. Black, 16. 18-Tony Bruce Jr., 17. 1X-Brad Ryun, 18. 77-John Klabunde, 19. 2-Jesse Giannetto, 20. 33-Austin Alumbaugh.

Was Terry McCarl able to acquire Tony Stewarts phone number?

Why wasnt Grain Valley resident Brian Brown at this race? I was surprised to not see his name in the final run-down anywhere.

The T-Mac Tony stuff was interesting, I missed the early portion of that watching the front three, but I don't think they were all that impressed with each other.

Danny told me the the ride is a race-by-race deal, he actually has a major deal working and hopes to have something to announce this week. Not sure -- and I did not ask -- about Humston's status.

I figured on Brian Brown being there as well.

Last night at Grain Valley was very enjoyable. We were very fortunate to be in the company of some old friends and made a few new ones as well.

The weather was great, the field of cars was competitive with a few surprises like Tony Stewart and Terry McCarl and we are looking forward to next year's race.ASCS is becoming our favorite format for Sprint cars and we are now anticipating the trip to Little Rock at the end of the month.

Thanks for putting the entire finish in your post.We are one of those fans that hurry for the exit at the drop of the checkered and never know how it all ended unless we can find it later somewhere.Hope to see you around a track soon.....just look for the oldest ones in the crowd.

Bud & Keet - you certainly don't look that old, or act that old, or think that old. Now everyone will be calling me Keet.

I have become more and more of a Danny Lasoski fan over the years.Danny showed at Valley Speedway what an experienced dirt track ace,who has fought countless dirt track battles over the years, looks like.Danny carried that car Friday night,as that car wasn't working good around the bottom.Danny drove the high side to get the job done, and it was cool watching the ole master at work. This was a race I had really been looking forward to this season as I thought it would be a good one.It turned out to be one of the best races I saw all season.

There is no lap counter at GV, but I could swear the feature didn't go the full 25 laps. Some fans around me said the track goes dark at 11 PM per city curfew, still racing or not. Having been my first trip there, I was unaware of this. The race was going, Johnson and Lasoski were battling, the guy next to me took off like he was on fire, and everything just stopped.

Traylor has talked about bringing a national ASCS date there, but they had better come up with some contingencies to make sure it can go the full distance. All the heats ended by 8:30 and it looked like it was going to be an early night. Unfortunately, both support classes had too many issues with their features, including a driver who flipped and lost his helmet (hope he's OK) and had to be EMTed out. I would hate to see a national feature shortened by curfew there. Next time, run the sprints feature first so it goes full, then let the suport classes have whatever time is left.

Overall, it was a great time for the end of the season, and bringing the school bus out to drive the kids around the track during intermission was a cool feature I hadn't seen before.

Im pretty sure it went the full 25, but like you said I wasnt counting laps either, I was enjoying watching Wayne and Danny battle it out. Im almost positive the Warrior race earlier in the year there ran past 11pm. The intermission was a little long, even after the school bus rides, lets remember some of us are there to watch the races, not to just buy the beer. Ran into multiple friends from out of state which doesnt happen much. Overall a very good race. Saw on another board the driver taken out has some stitches and is gonna be ok thankfully.
