A better field of cars is found in Florida every year, been that way for a long time now, just reality. The Outlaws generally dominate on the neutral ground down there most years. It won't match the excitement tho', not even close. The one track wonders have much to prove after another Knoxville embarassment and likely will step up, should be interesting. Enjoy....

You'll certainly have to explain to me how 35 cars in Florida are better than 55-60 in PA this weekend. The same 35 cars that are in Fla will be here this weekend, plus 20 extra? I'm so confused....

Smitty and I drove down there a few years ago and their were more people working the food vendors than people in the main grandstand...but how would you know, you have not attended a race in several years!
Friday rain remains the WoO's best odds of not getting shellacked...
Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

The quality of the Florida cars is what matters, the top dozen or so from PA for the most part, the best All-Stars, a few cars from Knoxville and sometimes CA and you have the best field of the year not counting Knoxville, been this way for a long time...
BRR, I have been to sprint car races in more States (29) than you have been to sprint car tracks in your life and by a whole bunch. I would almost venture to say that I have been to more sprint tracks in Australia than you have in the USA and I can guarantee that when I throw the ones I've been to in Canada on top of that it does exceed the few you've been to, but who cares. I attended about 95 races so far this year, all of them but one World of Outlaws show was of the horse variety. All of them paid out more than a World of Outlaws Show and most many times over, not that it means anything to anyone, lol.....

Florida in the winter is tougher than Knoxville in my opinion because the fields are not split into 2 nights of qualifying. You have the best of the best except for the couple od ASCoC shows.

no doubt Nelligan's storied history of racing in the previous decade is a carnie's walk down memory lane...
the fact remains... the last time I saw him anywhere near a dirt track was Eldora several years ago...but he was not allowed to attend the KR because IT WAS MOVIE NIGHT!

No response to my facts, AGAIN. I chose not to go to the KR after seeing a pathetic Eldora track on the night before and I vowed not to go back and haven't, more people should have done the same. You continue to make up some BS about not being able to for whatever reason. I'm guessing because I was with Kim (who has also been to many, many more tracks than you have or ever will be) you've come up with this silly story, grow up. Let it go, I went places and you didn't, get over it....

Hmmm, I was in Florida (Volusia) in '09 and '10 and saw noone from Calif except T-dub in the #17 and Bronson Maeschen. Nothing against Mr Maeschen, but not sure how one would characterise him as an upper echelon Knoxville car. Still think the field at Natty Open is much better than Florida!! JMO

Tim Shaffer and Dale Blaney will be with the All Stars I would guess and McCarl and Lasoski won't be there, these guys have been Florida regulars for many years (and were there this year). Pretty sure all those guys have won at the Grove in the past as well as Florida, that's 4 for starters....
PS Bronson made the show with the Outlaws two of the three nights, Greg Hodnett missed the show two of the three nights, Lucas Wolfe missed all three as did Chad Layton. These guys win at the Grove but don't make the show on neutral ground, hmmm.....

The National Open field is tougher for the Outlaws because the likes of Leppo, Layton, Montieth, Esh, etc. all of the 2nd-tier Posse drivers with decent equipment can and most likely will take one of the 24 spots in the field. If any of those drivers went down to Florida they would most likely not be in contention for a feature spot.
But, if you put the drivers that are going to be at the Grove this weekend that were not at Florida vs the drivers that were at Florida but not at the Grove this weekend on a neutral track, I think the Florida cars would definitly have some heavy hitters that could compete for the win and that is why we go to the races right? To see who wins. Tim Shaffer, who would be at the Grove this weekend but because of asinine scheduling won't be, Dale Blaney, Danny Lasoki and Terry McCarl would all most likely compete for the win. Those 4 guys you mentioned are great proof of the well known and accepted theory of the 'one track wonder' which resides in and around Central PA but doesn't venture too far from for reasons well known. Thank you....

Most (if not all) of them have full-time jobs, for one thing.

The All Stars got it right for a couple of years, not scheduling this race at Eldora up against the National Open. This year is not one of those years. It's unfortunate that Guy Webb doesn't have enough sense to not schedule a race against the second highest paying WOO show of the year. It really does a disservice to the guys that support his series for the entire season, only to be forced to run this race at Eldora this Saturday instead of trying to win 50k at the Grove. If it was a regular Outlaw show, then fine. But not the National Open. And I realize that the All Stars are a shadow of what they used to be, but I'd still like to see Shaffer, Blaney, Henry, Holtgraver, Gravel this weekend.

Layton's had plenty of top 10s in Fla, I still don't know why he was THAT bad this year, but it's definitely been a down year. Montieth has left the state twice, Leppo got to Knoxville and his crew chief left him high and dry (if you ever wanna know the real reason why the 71 was never in a JEI again after 08). They were on the phone with engine builder just trying to get A setup, which should also clue you into the support that PA teams have in relation to WoO teams....and Doug Esh, didn't he give the R19 a decent ride last year outside of PA?
I don't need to argue that the WoO is better overall, I know that. I've said it a billion times on this board. I still don't understand the "one track wonder though" Tim Shaffer, Dale Blaney, Dollansky, Saldana...those are the ones off the top of my head that have come to Lincoln in recent years and gotten nowhere near the front stretch after 25 or 30... You mention All-Star drivers, as though they have EVER won at Port, Lincoln, or the Grove? Tim Shaffer and Dale Blaney are considered greats, but Lance Dewease beating him in All-Star East points is irrelevent? You know that series ran out more tracks then one, don't you (including, gasp, FLA)? This is probably when I'll get told about something that happened in 1992, like it's still relevent. Why do you even post on a board about a sport you no longer support? I hope you enjoy your movie Saturday night, and I mean that sincerely.

Shaffer and Blaney would both be at the Grove but the All Stars added an Eldora show on Saturday. Doubt that Lasoski or McCarl will make the tow.
Bronson finished 23rd and 24th on the two nights he made the A main. Hodnett finished 11th and was the Hard Charger the night he made the show. Mechanical woes the other two nights.

And, since as stated they all of working jobs and families to attend to and this is a hobby for all of them, I don't see that as a problem.
For all intensive purposes, we'll keep Pittman, Hodnett, and Stevie Smith out of this, since obviously they all run better than average at the least off the porch and they all have Williams Grove as "homebase" and they all consider themselves "Posse." Obviously, the reason for their success is the time they spent on the tour.
But the two living legends haven't spent any time with the WoO and while they may not compete for the win night in and night out off the porch, they aren't going to embarrass themselves.

Didn't Doug Esh recently crawl in the CityWide R19 OUTLAW car recently and race (at a track he's never been before) and beat the outlaws?
Some of the heavy hitters in PA don't make the show on a REGULAR SHOW some nights because the field is that damn good!
MSPN... for as much as you tout your knowledge of sprint car racing in here you sure do make an ass of yourself quite often.
I'd much rather be in PA than anywhere else on the planet for dirt track racing.....carry on....

Telling the truth is where the problem is for the Posse Cheerleader and it always will be. You dare not go back and look at the stats in the early 90's because the Outlaws dominated back then. Here is a quick reminder and this always ends the debate; All time Williams Grove W of O winners, Steve Kinser 37, Mark Kinser 25, Donny Schatz 18, Sammy Swindell 17, nobody else has more than 7. I don't tout my knowledge of the sport either, I worked in it Full-Time for a dozen years averaging more than a 100 shows a year, I lived it and am now enjoying retirement like many other people in their 60's....
PS Esh won a while back, hardly recently and it was a GREAT win, anytime you beat the big dogs it's very special and it happens more than you'd think....
