Loren Barstad Memorial Draws Great Field Of Competitors The first Loren Barstad Memorial at the Jackson Speedway attracted a great field of cars on Saturday, Sept. 24. The event was created to pay tribute to a great friend and supporter of racing, the late Loren Barstad, who was instrumental in the racing careers of many of today’s racers throughout the upper Midwest. Special lap money and additions to the purses were featured as part of the evening’s event. In special tribute to the memory of Loren Barstad, a missing-man formation circled the track prior to the start of the JSTS-Forbes Meats 360 Sprint Feature, with the 22 starters paying tribute to Barstad being lead by drivers assisted by Loren Barstad over the years, Dusty Ballenger, Casey Heser and Gordy Vogelaar. The final races of the 2011 season at the historic half-mile will come next Friday and Saturday, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, for the 34^th Annual Kemna/Asa Jackson Nationals for stock cars, hobbies, sport modifieds, stock cars and sport compacts. Qualifying races will be run on Friday, Sept. 30, with championship features and last chance qualifiers on Saturday, along with the 360 sprints. The Jackson Speedway Touring Series will conclude the 2011 season on Saturday, October 8 with an appearance at the Dodge County Speedway in Kasson, MN.
