The 157th annual Juniata County Fair concluded tonight with the 44th annual Tuscorora 50. Last night's "Night before the 50" was rained/flooded out.

44 410's signed in tonight and there were no invaders.

Stevie Smith led all 50 laps to take the $12,000+ back to the Zemco shop. Danny Dietrich charged late to 2nd with Henderson 3rd, Mike Wagner 4th and Todd Shaffer 5th. Pittman was 6th, followed by Dewease, Layton, Hodnett and Rahmer.

There were no time trials tonight, it was a draw/redraw show, but the tracked looked wicked fast.

Stevie Smith, Todd Shaffer, TJ Winegardner, Mike Wagner, and Doug Esh won the heats tonight. Brent Marks won the B.

Defending race winner and 4-time and defending Lincoln Speedway Champion, Brian Monteith was a DNQ tonight.

The race in the race was won by Mike Wagner as he edged out Ryan Taylor to win the Port Royal track championship. Taylor got lapped and finished around 18th. He needed to finish within 10 spots of Wagner.

The track was fast, actually too fast, and blew thick dust in the feature.

Rahmer got the $2000 hard charger award for coming from 24th for a top 10 finish.

Blane Heimbach was awarded the hard luck award worth more than a $1000. Not sure what the criteria was for that award but I would have given it to Rick Lafferty who lost a wing panel in his heat while in a transfer spot and flipped violently in to the wall. Rick is very good for the resources he has.

This concludes Port Royal's season. Next week everyone will head to the Grove before heading to Selinsgrove for a rare 410 show, the Jim Nace Memorial, on Saturday. In 2 weeks, it's the Outlaw prep show at the Grove and the Weld Memorial at Lincoln. These races conflict with the WoO Eldora and Lernerville shows, respectively, so it will be interesting to see who goes where. And in 3 weeks, it's showtime as it's the Williams Grove National Open.

Hawk

Thanks for the report. How was the crowd and the atmosphere? Was it a typical Tuscorora 50 fair atmosphere or was it " toned" down a bit because of the recent weather. Always loved the fair food.

It was packed. Parking was a mess with all the flooding. First trip up there for the Tuscorora race, so not sure of the normal atmosphere for that race, but it didn't seem toned down at all. Fair food was awesome, it was nice to eat real food at a race track.

Nice report. A little wee bit of cushion knocked down on purpose by the push trucks after 10 inches of rain? Crazy! Still a good nite. The hoagie just off of 1 made up for the dust. Stevie was on the hammer. Few will take a good car any faster.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

If you're gonna give your little updates, maybe you should get the results correct first.

Esh was fourth and then the balance of who you had with Rahmer 11th.

Smile

Port was in a tough situation...they dug up the track and ran it in after last weeks race to prepare for the rain. Most of the rain ran off and the track actually could have used some water on Saturday...but with a chance of rain again, they couldn't risk it.

It wasn't the best surface I saw there all year, but at least they raced after the monsoon we got on Friday...I never experienced anything like that...camping was a MESS!

This race needs to be a time trial show in 2012!
