Young gun Brent Marks (19M) won the feature tonight at the Grove. Daryn Pittman stayed hot and won the URC program, which served as the undercard. He ran 7th in the 410 feature.
There were 26 cars with both Henderson and Hodnett returning to action after being absent last week. There were 35 URC/358 cars. It was a handicap show so you lose the likes of Brian Leppo, Stevie Smith, Jim Siegel and others.
Marks win margin was less than a car length as Brian Monteith was the show tonight. Lance was 3rd. Hodnett 4th and Chad Layton 5th. Marks win was worth $4,280 with 180 coming for lap money and an extra 500 because he started 7th.
URC Top 3 was Pittman, Layton, and local 358 hotshoe Pat Cannon.
Todd Shaffer's struggles continued as he fell from 3rd to 5th to fall out of the handicapping feature lineup. He wasn't worth watching in the feature, I think he crossed 16th.
Female Nicole Bower started on the pole of the A and went backwards once the racing started as usual.
Aaron Ott, Don Ott's son, blew an engine running in the top 5 of the URC feature.
Not much else, good overall night of racing.
Hurricane Irene looks determined to knock out Saturday's action. But, if she cooperates, Lincoln has it's Twin 20's which will play a heavy roll in determining whether Monteith, Dietrich or Leppo get the points title and Port Royal has 410's with URC on the program. The full-time drivers will head to nearby New Egypt (NJ) Speedway for a rare 410 event on Wednesday paying 5G to win. Shane Stewart has already pre-entered into that event as well as the Selinsgrove 360 National Open next Saturday, so it will be interesting to see how long he visits for.
Next week at the Grove we will see the annual Triple 20's. Should be a good one.
