who likes this rather new sport called drifting, thy back those cars in and slide them around, surely this is much tougher and better drivers with great throttle control, over say those dam F1 cars who have wings and great down force making them very easy to drive and hit the marks
yeah not bashing taditional sprint cars but they are a completly different style of racing from my favorite wing sprint car

Oh yeah, rock hard tires with a ton of power burning tires sliding sideways around a few obstacles........Much tougher than say 5 lateral "G's" on an off camber corner doing 190mph with 23 other cars......In the rain. Compare the attendance, sponsor, driver pay and TV figures between the to comparisons you give and you'll see which one is tougher. If I want to see tires burning while cars are sliding through corners sideways, I'll go see a sprint race at Eldora... :o

I find it MUCH MUCH harder to hit my marks and be fast Autocrossing or running track days at Summit Point vs. hanging the back end out in the 06 Mustang or 01 M3 that I drive. Hell, even an amateur like me can hold the back end of the Mustang out as long as I want basically, not really that hard, definitely not the fast way though. Much more of a challenge to keep the back end in line and digging, a lot harder to modulate than it is to flat foot it.....as for F1, I don't think you have a concept of the speed. It boggles your mind to see them in person.

We went to the SAP grand prix at Indy in 2004 and I'll tell you what, those cars are by far the fastest cars that I have seen race short of the NHRA. There is no way that you can compare sliding sideways at 40mph to handling one of those F1 monsters. Nope, it takes boatloads of talent to handle the technologically advanced F1 car that is raced today, so I would have to disagree with the initial post.
Never hit stationary objects!
