The 2011 UMSS season resumes on Saturday night August 20 at the Hibbing
Raceway for the first-ever appearance by the UMSS 360 winged sprint cars in
Minnesota's Iron Range country. The event termed the "Rumble on the Range" will
feature the second largest UMSS purse of the season! Pit gate opens at 4:00, hot
laps are at 6:00, and racing is slated to get underway at 6:30. A strong field
of cars is expected.
This will be the first time since August of 2001 that 360 winged sprint cars
have raced at the Hibbing Raceway. The feature winner ten years ago in a WISSOTA
360 show was Roger Rager. The UMSS will utilize their traditional double-round
of qualifying races leading up to the feature event. An autograph session for
UMSS drivers is also planned during intermission.
The Hibbing Park Hotel is offering room rates at $55.00 per night plus tax
for racers and fans looking to stay overnight. The Hibbing Park Hotel is located
just a minute or two from the race track across Highway 169 and a couple blocks
north at the exit to downtown Hibbing. Contact the hotel at 1-218-262-3481 for

The following is a breakdown of the August 20 purse for the Beltline Body
Shop and Motter Equipment sponsored Rumble on the Range. GRP Motorsports and
Mastell Brothers Trailer Service have also added some sponsorship money to the
back end of the purse making it a solid $350 to start the feature race.
