Debated on whether to post this, but then decided if it reminds people and would keep one person from getting hurt it would be worth it-Anytime a car wrecks on the track anywhere close to you, watch out for yourself and friends and family for debris and parts.I was sitting in section K at K-ville friday and watched an .810 rear steel rotor clear the fence and land on the concrete walk in front of the bleachers.Thankfully I dont think it hit anybody but that was at least an 8 pound rotor,it would have done some damage.Keep your eyes peeled and have a good time, see you there!

Always good to keep a heads up. Even the fences at Knoxville, as high as they are can't keep everything in bounds. A couple years ago a front axle caved in the roof of a car in Dingus parking lot. Distance, trajectory and the power lines you would think it impossible. A few years ago, I think it was Ray Lee Goodwin, got nailed with a huge dirt clod sitting near turn 1 after a crash.

Is it just because there is more media coverage or are racecar parts getting over the fence more often lately?

SpeedTV mentioned that a tailtank ended up on Hiway 14 on Saturday night and video of the double flip sure looked like a top wing made it over at least to the sidewalk. I remember two to three instances of the same in the last 4-5 years and prior to that I can only remember a tire coming off during a day race and making it all the way to the yet-unopened Hy-Vee store front around 87 or 88 and a complete car landing on the 2 lane Hiway 14 sometime in the early to mid 70's.

Reminds me of a crash at the Grove a few years back when the whole front axle landed in the bleachers. Good thing it wasnt a full stands that night or it wouldve been very very bad. See for yourself
