We are all passionate on this board about our love for Sprint car racing.
Rules for this post. Post a memory of a great race you once saw. Even vividly for last 30 (70 years for MSPN) ago.
No major sanction races. I am talking about old fair shows and low promoted shows.
Mine...I will just go with the old Danny Lasoski race in Mo when I was about 10. 19 years ago. He was in the Jackpot Junction 5 and the official let the old black 7 Ford go through the pits multiple times. during the A Danny did it to avoid the crash in 3 and 4 and they black flagged him to the rear.
Danny parked his car on the front strech and took out the sterring wheel. Climbed the fence and grabbed the flagman by his shirt. After much debate, Danny start last, single file with 22 cars. I think 15 laps to go. Long story short. Danny won the f**k with like 3 laps to spare. He was pissed off racing. Never forget it! I am not a Lasausage fan but that S**t I'd never forget and give him 100% props cause he was penialized wrong, in his home state.
I posted that race on here sometime ago. I forgot who was there at the same race and said what track it was.
Now, it is your turn. Give a memory of a great race, that just sticks in your head, for no reason. Why? It is fun and we all long this sport.

I wish I could remember all the details, but this was about 20 years ago at Eagle Raceway.
Final lap of the A and two drivers who had been battling it out for the last half-dozen laps were side-by-side on the back stretch. I want to say one of the two was Don Droud Jr, but again, memory is foggy.
Anyway, out of seemingly nowhere, Ray Lipsey comes screamin' into three on the high side, runs that car right up against the wall and never lifts as he passes them both as they come out of four to the flag.
Maybe Eagle Pit Shack Guy has a better memory of this than I, but it was early 90's as I recall.
Is this heaven?
No, it's Iowa....Knoxville, Iowa.

I can't remember what year but was probably late 70's or very early 80's. Our family went to the races at Knoxville every weekend, section J about 15 rows up, with my uncles family and 2 cousins. My cousin and I would bet a quarter on every race, heats through feature, and take turns picking first. He had first pick in the feature and I'm sure took Randy Smith as he was his favorite driver and was from Norwalk Iowa at the time, his home town also. I looked the field over and several fast guys were a ways back. Bob Hop was always a mid pack guy, some times a B-main guy, and was sitting up front(row 2 I think). So I picked Bob Hop. Long time Knoxville fans remember the Justice Bros. yellow 88 with the red /white/and blue stars and stripes. My cousin couldn't believe it. "Who the hell picks Bob Hop. John Stevenson's in row 4. Sonny Smyser is in 3. Such and such is on the front row." He went on and on. Well Bob Hop did win that race, his only feature at Knoxville, and for an hour after the races my cousin kept saying "Who the hell picks Bob Hop?" Thanks for the Quarter Bob!

Steve Kinser winning the National Open at The Grove when it was 75 laps...they made him start at the rear of the field after the first 25 lap stop because they said too many people were working in his car...he drove the wheels off that car and won the thing!!
Also Jack Hewitt winning at Devil's Bowl in the Merrill 5M with Wolfie in the 8H nearly catching him at the line!!
MSPN running to the donut stand at Volusia a few years back for those fresh hot mini donuts with icing on them, the greatest thing I ever ate!!
I must be getting old!

1973ish - The "Old, old" Tulsa Fairgrounds 3/8 mile track that is now a parking lot.
Jackie Howerton came back "Home" for a homecoming race after hitting the bigtime (USAC). He was in what us kids called the "Batmobile", a John Zink mount roadster that as I understand, once ran the Indy 500. He beat Emmett Hahn at the stripe by a wheel, who BTW, was in the original John Zink Special.
I was sitting about 50 feet to the left and about 20 rows up of this picture when it was taken. Check out the open face helmet, goggles and bandana that Howerton has on, and Emmett really "sitting up in the seat" at the stripe! Oh, and you have to love the front end stagger too!
