It was a serious case of Déjà vu at Macon Speedway Saturday night for anyone who had witnessed the previous night’s Monster Energy Sprint Car Series event. A caution with one lap to go brought out a “white-checkered” finish with Jerrod Hull and Danny Smith in the top two positions. The Friday version had Hull trailing Smith at the drop of the green/white with Hull making a move on Smith in turn one for the win.
The Saturday version had pole-sitter Hull in front with Smith trailing after moving up from the 9th starting spot. On the restart Smith made a valiant attempt at a pass on Hull, but couldn’t make it work which saw Hull hang on for his second straight Sprint Week win over Smith. Chris Urish finished third, followed by Mike Hess and Jordan Goldesberry.
With one more night to go in the battle for the Sprint Week Championship presented by Maxim Chassis, the points have two Maxims at the top with Danny Smith and Jerrod Hull separated by just 23 points entering the final night’s action at Shepp’s Speedway.
