10 days! 10 days is all that seperates me from 7 straight nights of racing. Whats everyones favorite night of the week? Favorite place to eat? Favorite to win each race? And just any thought or memories of the greatest week of the year!

The Rib Shack that opened up last year right by the hall of fame is a new favorite great meat at reasonable prices. Favorite night is probably Wednesday and Thursday. Without knowing the nights they qualify yet I'd say for the wed/thur it will be Brian Brown/Sammy unless they are the same night...Friday will be a Knoxville regular either Lynton Jeffrey or possibly Austin McCarl gets his first win..Saturday Sammy wins

The Rib Shack is very good I had that last year too and I was really hoping Sammy would win it last year he had it until he cut a tire and got on his side but it would be nice to see him take it this year

I am 31 this will be my 28th knoxville nationals, my 5 year old daughters first!!! My favorite night is Thursday, opening day of mini nats at slideways, great night of racing followed by the chicken cook under the grandstands after the races. Fab place to eat would be the tavern in Williamson the papa burger is huge!!!!! And any night Sammy wins is fantastic!!!!

I'd have to say Wednesday is my favorite night.....because it's the first and I know I have three days remaining!
I stay in Des Moines and I always look forward to that first Hooters burger. As far as the track, I cannot stay away from the chicken bites. Still wish the Dairy Queen trailer was set up near the O'Reilly's parking lot. I miss my post-race Peanut Buster Parfait.
Predictions? Having not seen the split for Wed-Thur, all I can offer is a "favorite" will win one of the nights and a mild upset will happen the other.
Saturday.....as much as I'd like to see Sammy win, if I had to lay down money I'd have to pick Schatz. I don't care what he's done leading up to the race, he always runs up front during the Nationals.
Is this heaven?
No, it's Iowa....Knoxville, Iowa.

We used to have a pretty good get together of Hosers at the Hall of Fame (still was well under attended, sadly) but my partner and the main driving force behind making it happen passed a couple years back. I miss Duane Davis lots at this time of the year and his silly phone calls when he was bored are never to be forgot and we argued through most of them, lol. It was always exciting to announce the Hoser of the Year and I hope the former winners still remember their day in the sun and the fun we had. Dang, almost choking up here missing Duane and those days, sheesh.....

Since I was a kid I have always cherished the time spent at the nationals and I appreciate it more with each passing year. First I stayed at a hotel in Des Moines, then stepped up to tent camping at Lake Red Rock, then finally graduating to a camper, in town, at the north campground. Every step of the way I have met new people and made new friendships that are revisited with each annual journey from South Dakota. Now I live in California and being this far away has added a new level of appreciation for the time I get to spend in Knoxville, something I will never take for granted. It adds a whole new dynamic to the level of anticipation of seeing friends, family and the greatest sprint car race in the world. Many things will change in people's lives from year to year but when it comes to knoxville, those people and that place are timeless, ageless, and priceless to me. It's far more than just a sprint car race to me now, now it's a reunion that I hope to be able to attend for many years to come. See you all soon!

I only attend the 410 nationals and have for the last 9 years. My favorite moment of the whole trip is grabbing a beer when i first walk in, walking up to the fence (i am a back stretcher), and waiting for the first time they let 'em go in hot laps. The hair raises off my arms every year. I don't have a favorite night i guess. Over the years, i can remember some memorable moments on just about every night. Friday is obviously the least exciting, but beats being at work or being poked in the eye with a sharp stick!

My favorite race of the week is the wingless race at Oskaloosa. Always close and exciting. Favorite place to eat Kinfolk BBQ in Attica. This will be the 17th year in a row at the Nationals. First Nationals attended was 1962.

This would have been my 21st year in a row, but do to a fund raiseing event for my daughters dance team can't get away!!! I'm very bumped, but it comes with the territory I guess. Hope everyone has a fun and safe week, will be keeping a close eye on things from the computer. IMO I see this year as one that is going to be just about anyones year to win!!! Have fun to all.

I agree with whoever said Wednesday was the best, only because there's 3 more days of it. Gotta think either Sammy or Schatz takes it. Would love to see another surprise winner...maybe Pittman...hmmmmmmmmmmmm ![wink](/images/Main/wink_100x100.gif)
13 days.

My pick for the Nationals is one of the Big Game Treestand cars. After Sammy's deal last year I wouldn't be to upset to see him win even if I'm kinda a fan of Dollanski. Been going for 11 years. Favorite place to to eat is at my own camp site.
