This video is about 'who is watching' the old videos we put up , or rather age and gender groups that watch, and how they rank against each other.

I seriously believe it relates to the vintage race car world too. We are not big with the prime time, 18-35 male bracket. But from the age of 18 until , well....even now- I LIKE TO HANG OUT WITH MY DAD AT ANY CAR GATHERING SHOW HE IS AT. I KNOW of so many people that would do that, or continue the practice with their kids. That is if you could get the 35 and up crowd to show up more often ,and pay their way to get in.

And Baby Boomers? They haven't stopped looking for thrills. They pay for what they want to see too, and the mainstream has moved on from dirt track racing since it has changed so much. They're now at bike shows, Goodguys/NSRA (and the like) car shows, while buying rv's, and so on. WHAT WE DO, IS PROVIDE AN INTERESTING OPPURTUNITY FOR THEM TO COME BACK AND SUPPORT.

check out the video, see who's watching the old films. The 65 and up crowd would be much, much stronger on my demographics page if they had more fairly current computers. I'm not even a good promoter on youtube, so i never throw in a pop singers name on the tag lists to get more views. They watch all over the world, where there is youtube, everyday. Mostly in the United States.

just look, and think. KEEP IN MIND these are videos that are mostly open wheel cars. Yet when I go into any large city like OkC, or DFW, I am on the ground and get a lot of positive comments over the junkyard '33 Chevy coupe when I pull it in. I know from what I see there, that my car is no longer a piece of crap, but now it is legit and respected amongst Traditional Hot Rodding- not rat rods. At that moment, I am 'on the field' , and it is obvious what is popular and not.

People admire finely painted , chromy cars, but they want to hug the coupes. That's why this NCRA supermodified fan just had to get his old mans coupe back into the picture. I would have done it eventually anyway, but this trend sped it up drastically. Maybe someday I'll get a tetanus shot, and drive it on track. It does cross my mind now and then.

There seems to no set rule on anything regarding terms across the board. The terms 'racing, vintage, antique, nostalgia, mean different things to different people. It really hinders understandable communication. Throw in the passion we have for this stuff, things can get out of hand in a hurry.

But I do agree with you on this one.

Tapping into a bigger picture, no pun intended- I did an informal study 5 years ago on the drawing power of an old race car.

Not proud of my film here, but maybe it gets the idea across.

This is the truck I intended to push. I had built a steel retractable top for it, and was looking for interest, maybe investors, or anything to help me get it more perfected and possibly sell a few. My studies on this wa the idea would work on any full size 2 door suv (blazers, Broncos -post 1977 big versions, ramchargers 1970's and 1980's.)

The super was more well liked, so I went that way.

Here's the truck, still have it today and work has stopped since 2006. The geometry came from an old fold out couch. It uses race car parts, bicycle parts, anything that would work. It is not airtight by any means, but keeps the seats dry in heavy rainstorms.

I found out the market interested would not pay what it cost to build and sell one, at a profit, and sustain a business. They are still very interested, but the minute I give out the info of the inner workings of this thing (that ate my youth) , well it probably wouldn't be 'my ideer' anymore. I don't really know what to do with it, other than keep it. The only one there ever was, I beat the Chevy SSR by 3 months getting it on the street, which is about the best satisfaction i could get. Still, it's rough but it works.

I use to work in a salt plant and the department I worked in was all women. A half a dozen or so. It was terrible. Now I'm 57 and I have found men are about the same it is just different.

I went through it building this site. I put it together the only way I knew how. 1 out of 10 e-mails (maybe stretching it some) was criticism, It was how I did things on the site or what I was doing on the site. I finally got to the point where I just quit. I never got the will to get back into it. Oh I did get hundreds of e-mails with nothing but praise too.

Yes

It is hard to enjoy pleasing the majority when a minority is tearing the point down. For the good of the majority, we all have to work around the negative part and get this stuff out there.

I will testify that this site has brought a lot of history back to the surface, and has done more than anything I know of to take 'this thing we are' into the next plateau. Film, pictures, memorabilia, friendships old and new, are coming to the surface every single day. People are seeing loved ones in film clips now that they have never seen before. Even when you gave up, you still hit a home run.

Cars are being built, some restored, some not so much but put back into some sort of circulation. This website and it's forum has brought a lot of magic and color back into many peoples lives. We're having reunions, cookouts and feeling kinda like Americans again. This stuff cuts through economic differences and brings all walks of life back together, just like in the old days.

It could all have happened anyway, but this idea you had, sped it up before we were all dead of old age.

This car came to Woodford, Oklahoma in 1981. It had been in my Uncles driveway until he got a divorce, and after 2 years of that along with custody issues, his ex let him get the car.

Until 2009, we never knew who drove it before, whether it had won anything, or it's story.

This past Tuesday, july 26th 2011, I found out Bob Hurley built the chassis for Phil Hancock-who then sold it to Gary Cole, who then sold it to David Grace, who then sold it to Randy Whitson , all of OkC at the time. Whitson sold it to my Uncle in 1977 due to a divorce.

It did show at Shepard Square mall in 1976 , as a 6 cylinder mod, #26. No relation to us at the time.

Here it was this past tuesday.

Are you talking about the 1973 NASCAR Rookie of the Year? No, I'm not that gentlemen. It would've been neat to have been him and had his NASCAR opportunity. I'm just a regular (55 year old) guy who was introduced to modifieds and supers by his Dad as a kid about eight or nine years old in Roseville, CA (I think they call the track All American Speedway now and it's paved). When I was younger, I wanted to race late models when they were still Chevelles, Camaros, Mustangs, and the like. Several years ago I met a group of guys who raced the Jalopies and fell in love with them all over again and had to get me one. I've got the 37 Chevy five window coupe I race now and a 35 Ford five window coupe (flat head six car back in its day) that still needs restored to its former glory. Sorry to disapoint, but I'm just old Joe regular racer.

Had to ask with that name. I think it was later than 73 mid 70's. Then we had Terry Bivins also from Kansas. He got cheated by politics on him winning the rookie of the year. I had forgot Bruce won rookie of the year. I'm thinking Bruce 1st year was 75ish

Warren, I'll split the difference with you, it was 1974. Here he is in the 47 car.

I watched Terry in a MASCAR race at I70 Speedway in 1973 that Dick Trickle won. If I remember right he went thru the back wall and they said that it was the second year in a row that he had done that. Pete Hamilton and Donny Allison were the featured NASCAR drivers there that night.
