man look at the results everywhere - it's all on a downhill slope.

tens of thousands of dollars for a few hundred to start will only work for so long....

ASCS Lone Star had 15 sprints last night. Midwest region had like 13 in Iowa too. Let the bullshit begin on blaming "the economy". While that is true to an extent - it's the economy of the sport itself that is the problem.

and the hottest summer in recorded history is not helping either lol. generally sprint car teams aren't exactly poor - in fact, many of them own boats too lol. If you're not running for points and you have cooler options.........

The economy of the sport itself! Someone finally hits the nail on the head. Good post OKCFan. I'm tired of hearing about the economy on racing forums. The economy is only a small reason why our sport is hurting right now. The racing economy where my brother spends $20k on his racecar, then spends $150 a week to race it, and then only gets $300 if he wins? This is the economy that has to be blamed, and it's the racing economy. Can't blame Bush or Obama for that one.

How many travel on their plastic (probably maxed out or close to it) all summer to go to these races, spectators and paticipants. Be honest. The hottest summer on some records so far. It is 111.6 here right now and no wind. But it is a dry heat LOL The heat index is 111.

I just read where the URSS had 3 heats. 19 cars started the Main. Maybe that was everyone though. Some of them ran in the NCRA class it looks like.

You can not run a ASCS sprint car for 1500.00 to 2000.00 to win and 250 to 300 to start. If you are competive it costs between 750.00 to 1000.00 a nite if you don't tear up anything . Fuel costs have been a large problem this year. A lot of owners are tired of spending money with no chance of even paying their fuel bill. Promoters need to start promoting and at least try to prepare their tracks.
