Legendary Northern California driver Doug Gandy of Oakhurst will be the featured guest on “King of the West Tonight” this Thursday at 7pm pacific time on http://www.kwssprints.com/webcast

Gandy was the 1976 Silver Dollar Speedway track champion and also won titles at the Placerville Speedway in 1975, ’78 and ’79.

In his career he has won over 100 main events and this season has been a regular with the Golden State King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series.

We will also have highlights from Tomas Scheckter’s debut in a sprint car this past Sunday and give everyone an update on the KWS season with 13 races down and six to go.

Point leader Tim Kaeding won his series leading fourth main event of the year last Saturday in Antioch and extended his lead to 73-markers.

“TK” was able to muscle his way underneath Brent Kaeding in traffic on lap-12 en route to his 52nd career Golden State victory. It also continued the streak of every KWS feature so far this season having a lead change.

The Golden State King of the West 410 Series is set for a couple weekends off, with the next events taking place at Watsonville’s Ocean Speedway on Friday August 5 and Hanford’s Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway on Saturday August 6.

Love that picture of Doug with Ron Eisenhower. I have lots of memories of Doug and the rest of the limited supermodified drivers back when I was "behind the mike" at Hangtown Speedway.
