The races are ON as scheduled for Saturday night July 16 at the Elko Speedway Summer Dirt Nationals. I spoke with Ron B a short time ago. Ron reported that the infield has been drained, the pit area is dry, and they are working on the track now and throughout the afternoon in order to have it firmed up by the time hotlaps are scheduled for around 6:00. With the expected hot temps and a bit of a breeze, Ron was confident they could get the surface dried out some and into racing condition. Several haulers were already in the pits as of noon. With blacktop areas in the pits, in the infield, and leading up to the track as well as some of the parking area, the primary concern and focus is on the dirt surface itself and getting it ready to handle IRA 410 outlaw sprints, UMSS 360 sprints, TSCS nonwinged sprints, Elko mods, and Legends. The rest of the facility will be okay. Johnny Holmes Band will play after the races.
