Murphy Takes 5th At Skagit! /"No Wings, No Worries" Tour Heats Up Again!

By Gary Costa

Skagit, Washington – May 22, 2007…With an off weekend in SCRA competition, Peter Murphy took a weekend off from his "No wings, No worries" Sprint car tour and traveled to Skagit Speedway last Saturday night to show his versatility as a race car driver, as he wheeled the immaculate M&S Motorsports #18 winged 410 Sprint car.

In heat race action, Peter took off and hid in Heat-2. When the main event rolled out, "Murph" pulled the belts tight, and threw all he could at the Skagit clay. After the checkered flag fell, Murphy brought home a 5th place finish.

All of us at Peter Murphy Motorsports would like to thank everyone associated with the M&S Motorsports team, including all of their great sponsors for giving us the honor to drive your race car. We truly do appreciate it!

How did it feel to be back under a wing? "It took me a couple of laps to adjust, they are two different disciplines and of course you need to know which one you're in. We won the heat by quite a ways, and I had such a great time! It's a great car, with a great motor, and the team was really fun. The car was so fast, but we could only get so much from the track, but no excuses. Like I said, I had a lot of fun, and they did take me to the Outback steak house, so that was great!"

What's on Tap! Race fans will have two opportunities to catch Peter with his elbows up! this weekend. The "No wings, No worries" tour heats up again, starting this Saturday at Santa Maria Speedway for Bandit Sprint car action. Then we will tow the Tom Tarlton owned Sprint car to the "Thunderbowl" Raceway, where Peter hopes to make some of his own "Thunder!", and will battle with the USAC/CRA on Sunday.

Question of the Week! "Racedevil", from Northern California asks;" When will we see Peter up here again?"

Peter Answers! "You never know "Racedevil"; I may just sneak up there to run a Spec-Sprint or a winged car. If everything works out, I hope to see you at the Gold Cup or maybe Calistoga for the Outlaws. Thanks for asking!"

Do you have a question or comment for Peter? Don't be shy! Send them to Gary Costa @ [email protected] and we will also be looking forward to meeting all of you great race fans out there!

*Special thanks to Brian Simonseth for providing the pictures!
