NEWTON (July 7, 2011) – It was a short holiday weekend for the Ossenfort Racing team. They stuck close to home, racing at their hometown track of Black Hills Speedway, in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Jake climbed back into his Knology #99J 360 for Friday night's event. "It had rained before our race on Friday, so I knew that the track was going to be a bit greasy and extra wet," said Jacob of the track conditions he was preparing himself for. After a few hot laps the track was starting to get packed in, which started making it nice and racey for the upcoming heat races. "It started getting tacky and fast and I knew it would be good for our heat." Jacob said.
Jacob started fourth in his heat race and made his move early, placing him in second. With track conditions improving from sloppy to tacky, it made it easier to get around, however passing would be the next hurdle for most of the drivers. "It was fast, but I kind of thought that once the heat started we'd get pretty spread out, so I knew that I was going to have to make my move pretty early, and I was right." Jacob gave everything he had to the Knology #99J, but there just weren't enough laps to catch the leader. "It was a good, safe race," said Jacob.
A redraw determined Jacob's starting position for the night's main event, lucky for Jacob he drew a #4 for a pleasant starting spot in the outside, second row. Just like Jacob's heat, he and the team had discussed the need to make his move early, as the track was still fast but it stayed as a one lane track for the rest of the night, making passing a difficult task. Jacob and his Knology #99J 360 put on a good show, passing back and forth to finish the night with a solid fourth place finish. "It was one of those nights where you had to pray that you got lucky on your setup. Passing wasn't as easy as it can be, so your car really had to play its part. We finished where we started, so there's never any disappointment with that." Jacob said confidently.
This weekend the Ossenfort Racing team will be back on the move, traveling with the American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) Midwest Region. You can find the #99J at the Jackson Speedway, in Jackson, Minnesota on Friday night and at the I-90 Speedway in Hartford, South Dakota on Saturday. The team will stop by and try their hand one more time in the Don Ott powered Knology #99J at Huset's Speedway in Brandon, South Dakota on Sunday.
It's a BIG weekend and there will be plenty of chances to catch Jacob behind the wheel… Be sure you get out there and cheer him on!

Vortex Racing Products
Vortex Racing Products is the industry leader in Sprintcar Wing design. From humble beginnings in 1995 where we began producing wings for our own use we quickly became engaged in producing wings for other race teams. Inspired by a life-long background in racecar design and manufacturing from our Dad, we (Paul and Lynton) continued to evolve into a company known for producing a product a little different from the rest. This ability to manufacture a Wing that is unique in design is what has been our success. With the use of our own race teams in Australia and America, we continually push the boundaries of design with an extensive testing program of our products each and every year. It is with our understanding of chassis design and manufacturing that we are able to communicate with our clients and tailor a wing package that best suits their driver, team and make of chassis. We call this," The Vortex Advantage". http://www.vortexracingproducts.com.au/
