Tri-Fecta brings together three Late Model Series
This Friday night's Midwest Tri-Fecta at I-80 Speedway brings together three dirt late model sanctioning bodies. The Corn Belt Clash (CBC) is the new kid on the block. The CBC was founded in 2009 to resurrect Super Late Model racing in Iowa and the surrounding states and is under the direction of Cam Granger. The CBC is making only its second visit to I-80.
The Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) has been around since 1989 and has become a staple at I-80 for Dirt Late Model Specials and is under the direction of Harriett Chancellor.
The National Championship Racing Association (NCRA) is the old-timer of the group having started operations in 1979 and has also made many visits to I-80. During this past off season the NCRA became a part of the World Racing Group which also owns the World of Outlaw Sprint and Late Model series. The presence of all three sanctioning bodies should assure a large turnout of dirt late models for the $3,000 to win late model portion of the show.
They will be joined by the American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) Midwest division under the capable direction of Chuck Zitterich. The ASCS is also no stranger to the I-80 Speedway, sanctioning several sprint car events annually at the track. Their feature will also pay $3,000 to win.
Finally, the A Modifieds will be returning to I-80 Speedway for a $2,000 to win feature. Pits open at 4 pm, Grandstands open at 5:30 pm with racing at 7 pm. Grandstand Admission is $20 for Adults, $5 for Juniors (6-15) with 5 and under free. Pit Passes are $30.
